How to Save Money at Lakeside Mobile Veterinary Services - Peaceful In Home End of Life and Integrative Palliative Care for Dogs and Cats
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

We recently lost our 5 year old Bernese to Lymphoma. We are so thankful for Dr.Laura’s services. We were able to have our last moments with our girl in the comfort of our own yard- her favourite place. Laura gave us privacy & also was very reassuring & empathetic. The paw prints she made for us are now framed in our kitchen- a thoughtful touch. Thank you for making a day we dreaded as peaceful and comfortable as we had hoped.

We would like to thank Laura for her caring and compassion as we put our beautiful 15 year old chocolate lab down, August 18, 2024. We are deeply saddened and miss her so very much, but it was time. Laura was exceptional in her understanding and post grieving. Thank so much. ♥️

Although this is a little bit late, before Christmas I contacted Dr. Laura as sadly my husband and I agreed it was time for our cat Cindi to make the transition over the rainbow bridge. I did an email on a Sunday and surprisingly before the end of the day Dr. Laura had contacted me by text to introduce herself and she was so compassionate in her initial response. She then contacted me on Monday and Dr. Laura walked me through what to expect with the procedure and we arranged for her to come to our home. It was one of my hardest days in 2024, however because Dr Laura was So kind, compassionate, and understanding it was also one of the most peaceful moments of my life. If you are ever in this position, please do not hesitate to reach out to Dr. Laura.

I am truly sorry it has taken me so long to share my experience with Dr. Laura. In early April I had to make the tough decision to spare my Cooperdog from anymore suffering. I had spent almost 17 years with him by my side and knew it was time to let him go. I honestly did not know that the home services Dr. Laura provided were even an option. She was referred by a close friend and I am so grateful that we chose to put him to rest at the place he knew as home! From the moment I contacted her to the moment she left Dr. Laura was compassionate, understanding and patient. My memories of that tough day are balanced by the feelings of gratitude that Coopie was surrounded by his family, in his loving home, as he peacefully fell asleep. Thank you for being there for us before and after Dr. Laura, we appreciate you!

Losing a pet is certainly not easy no matter what the circumstances are, however Dr. Laura was tremendous in her communication and compassion throughout this difficult time for our family. From our first conversation we instantly knew that she was the type of individual who genuinely cared for our beloved cat and that she takes great pride in the work she does to support families like ours as we said goodbye. Her in-home service and follow up was outstanding, and we cannot thank her enough for being exceptional from start to finish. If I could give more than 5 stars I would, Thank you again Dr. Laura!
