How to Save Money at Brockville Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

As a dedicated client of this clinic for the past thirty years, I have consistently been impressed by the high standard of care and professionalism provided. My deep appreciation for your services is why I feel compelled to share a recent experience. During my visit this past week, I encountered a staff member—an older woman, who I suspect may be a recent addition to the team—whose conduct was highly concerning. I observed a distinct lack of professionalism in her interactions, both with clients and her colleagues. In any client-facing role, especially in a compassionate setting like a veterinary clinic, maintaining a courteous and respectful demeanor is paramount. Her manner of speaking, which included an elevated level of apparent frustration and a dismissive tone when addressing questions, was inappropriate. This behavior was not only directed toward me but was also visibly apparent to others in the reception area. While I understand that every profession has its challenges, such unprofessional conduct raises serious questions about the individual's suitability for a customer service role, particularly one involving the care of beloved pets. Consistency in professional and empathetic behavior is essential for maintaining client trust. I sincerely hope this was an isolated incident that can be addressed internally. I value this clinic immensely and wish to see its excellent reputation upheld. Update: I am intentionally using my maiden name for this correspondence. Given my recent experience with your receptionist behavior, I would prefer to keep my current last name private to ensure this matter is handled objectively and without bias."

Thank You Brockville Animal Hospital. Our 13 year old "puppy" was acting strange, however we had just been away on vacation and thought maybe she was just mad we had left (even though she stayed at home with family member). I contacted the Brockville Animal Hospital and described issues with our puppy. They had us in within the hour, took blood work and we received a call the next morning with updated blood work results. Results showed that our sweet puppy had pancreatitis. Dr. Roth was quick to respond, for the puppy to be brought in urgently for hydration for the day. Dr. Roth and team explained in depth the next steps and how to give puppy medication. The entire team continued to check in with us to see how the puppy was doing for the next couple of days, including an email with all instructions. Within 5 days we had a sweet loving pup back to her funny goofy "puppy" self. Thanks to all From Gucci

Top notch care for our dogs and cat. They always provide a great experience whether we are there for a routine appointment or unexpected illness/injury. The customer service team is welcoming, the Vet Techs and Vet's are knowledgeable. Do not hesitate to bring your companion animals here, they will get amazing care.

Great staff. They really care about the animals. I've never seen a place where the animals look so happy going in and even happier coming out. Very happy with their service. I have been bringing Maggie here for years and the service has always been consistent and very caring. The best vet in Brockville by far. Expensive, but the best care.

We had a great experience with Brockville Animal Hospital. We had an emergency with our dog and they were able to fit us in within an hour of calling. Took great care of our dog and had us in and out very quickly. It was our first time here as our regular vet office was closed and they treated us extremely fairly with our emergency. Would absolutely recommend their services. Thank you for keeping our girl safe
