How to Save Money at West King Edward Animal Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.
How Do You Choose the Right Pet Insurance Provider?

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
This is the best vet clinic I have ever been to. Hands down. I had been so many vets that have treated the symptoms of my pup and not the root cause. This lead to years of her being misdiagnosed and continuously suffering, not to mention the thousands of dollars spent with no resolve. First veterinary clinic to figure out the root cause of my pups ailments and to not superficially treat her. This has lead to her getting a proper diagnosis and she is all better, happy and healthy! The staff are top notch, they are incredibly responsible, reliable and have excellent communication. Dr. Lauren is a saint. She is so smart, dedicated and thorough. She also doesn’t try to rip you off. She works with you regarding what your options are with your pet. She educates you. She doesn’t add any needed stress, her presence is so calming and her treatment is realistic and not anxiety ridden. This means the world to me. She has taught me how to relax with my dog and what is life threatening behavior versus not. This is all hard to know when you are a first time dog owner and any ailment is a crisis, which I have learnt, it is not. I didn’t have many interactions with Dr. Alex but from what interactions I did have, he was amazing as well. The front desk staff and all the staff in the back are the best too. They go above and beyond every day. They have been patient, kind and comforting to me and my animal in a really trying time for both of us. They have worked with my pet insurance company and have taken the load off me in managing all my invoices, reimbursements etc. This animal clinic is my pup and my safe space. Thank you all so much, this review is way overdue.

I can't recommend Dr. Boo and the team at West King Ed Animal Clinic enough! We have three dogs—Milo, Pepsi, and Skittles—and they've always received the best care for their check-ups and vaccinations. Recently, Skittles faced some health issues, and the level of care he received from Dr. Boo was beyond exceptional. Dr. Boo is incredibly gentle, thorough, and truly caring. Thanks to his expertise and the dedication of his amazing team, Skittles has made a full recovery. We are so grateful for the compassionate and top-tier care provided here!

10/10 treatment, couldn’t be more content. Our puppy Pebbles has been suffering with diarrhea and vomiting (on and off) for almost a month. Went in a few weeks ago, took X-rays and given probiotics. They provided options and provided guidance throughout. Followed up and provided clear instructions and support throughout. This morning pebbles threw up blood, we rushed her to the emergency clinic. We wanted her vet, Dr. Alex Boo, to take a look. They were able to fit us in on the day (both times). Service by Dr. Boo and team was outstanding. Extremely reasonable and considerate of our situation. Took the time to get multiple quote for our scope, providing us with the most fair price. Dr. Boo and staff were transparent, empathetic and generous. 10/10 would recommend. Solved pebbles issues (fingers crossed) and provided outstanding service. Nowadays, good customer service is hard to come by, and we were more than content with our experience. Highly recommend.

We always have excellent service from the vets and the staff. They know us well unfortunately but are very encouraging and help in every way they can. They listen to me when I explain how my pet is unwell and they believe when I explain small but serious behavioural changes.

They probably flagged and deleted my review to google so they just keep good reviews to lie to customers so Im repeating what I said cause people need to know how bad this place is. Especially the front end reception. This place is so bad and will always be. Never a time did I feel happy coming into this place. Has such a bad vibe. A client of this place from its old location since the early 90's but lost my business because of their front End "service reception". Never greeted, seems always like "a what do you want attitude ", arrogant, upturn nose attitude, not courteous, not accommodating, and very rude. They talked back to me instead of trying to get a doctors help to accommodate or making the situation better. Had to call for a recent appt to say I would be late and can be up to 15 min as I read in the email that we are able to to have a 15 min lee way before cut off. We got there right at the 15 min mark (on my car time) but they said that we came in at 16 mins so being 1 min into the time we were denied the appointment! 1 Min!!!! 😂 Are you kidding me!? I travelled all the way, picked up my mom went theough road closure to get there on time and was denied without any remorse to accommodate me nor be helpful to ask the doctor if We can be still be seen. They just told me to go somewhere else to be seen and basically let my pet suffer with his ailment because of 1 min .Made me furious!!! at the lack of business saavy and professionalism. I made them know that!!! Been a LONG TIME CLIENT since the beginning with Dr Ashburner in the early 90's - spent 1000's upon 1000’s of dollars for always mediocre service. Also incredibly expensive for less than a 5-10 minute appointment, and they always want to do as little in 1 session as possible in order to have another appointment to “see how he’s doing” and a wait and see approach. I can see right through their money making scheme The front receptionists should be reprimanded and spoke to about their horrible customer service skills and empathy. As a manager, I would never hire such people in a compassionate job like Animal care. You lost my business of over 30 years. Noone should come here if they want care for their pets. They just want your money. Unfortunately it doesn’t allow No stars in this rating but this place is a Zero star.
