How to Save on Veterinary Costs at BC SPCA Vancouver Animal Hospital

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

I highly recommend this facility to anyone looking to have their cat spayed or neutered. Their work was incredible, and there were no infections, all for almost half the price of private clinics. A few days after the surgery, she was back to her normal routine! I want to give special thanks to the doctors and their team. 🙏👩‍⚕️👨‍⚕️

My dog had surgery here before adoption. The staff were kind, caring and considerate. I think the vet did a good job too. Thank you SPCA Vancouver 🙏

Something is wrong with their phone system. You can not actually call them it just makes you wait 20mins then hangs up on you. Managed to get them to call me and they wouldn’t tell me how much it cost to get my cat spayed. They ball parked it around 400$ after sone verbal jousting. I instead set up an appointment with Langley animal hospital for 140$ and they are straight up and tell you all the costs there. Bad experience with spca animal hospital.

The vet was very honest and caring during a neuter consult. I appreciate that they aren’t trying to push for a surgery but trying to understand what the goals are and explain if that would change anything. Best way to get a hold of them is over email, not phone.

Dr Els de Vrijer is the best vet! After going to a few vets that didn't care for my dog well enough, I was told about this clinic. I am very grateful and thankful for Dr Els de Vrijer. She is very caring, understanding, and will make sure your loved one will get better. Dr Els de Vrijer gave me hope again about my dog getting better and he is! 100000% recommend!
