How to Save on Veterinary Costs at Vancouver East Veterinary Walk-In Clinic

Preventive care

Routine wellness exams can help identify health issues early, often before they become more serious or expensive to treat. Regular checkups are one of the most effective ways to manage long term veterinary costs.

Compare prescription pricing

Some pet medications prescribed at veterinary clinics may also be available through local or online pharmacies. It can be helpful to compare pricing when appropriate to reduce ongoing medication costs.

Consider pet insurance

Pet insurance may help cover a portion of eligible veterinary expenses depending on the plan, including accidents, illnesses, and in some cases preventive care. Coverage details, reimbursement levels, and deductibles vary by provider.

Went here for several years with my cat and ordered specified food recommended by the vet. Upon my pets passing they would not refund a return of the food despite it having been purchased only a month prior at their location and was unopened. Offered only a credit of $36.00 on future purchases with the vet if I returned the bag. The food was purchased at $120.00. I do not have animal to use this measly $36.00 on and if I did I would not return to them.

The vet and all the staff here are so kind and super helpful and their pricing is very reasonable. We had a bad experience previously at hemlock animal hospital and were left very much in the dark about my senior cats kidney disease diagnosis. The vet here at Vancouver east took the extra time to sit with me and explain everything in detail and come up with a treatment plan, and explain what our options will be in the future when her condition worsens. I'm so thankful we brought her here and got a second opinion. They will be our regular vet going forward with all pets, present and future.

I would not recommend! Needed to bring my cat in soon for a skin soar spot and was told I had to book and appointment despite it being a walk-in clinic. At the appointment the technician was friendly and nice but asked all the questions as if they haven't read anything in her history, which I sent in advance. Once the questionnaire was done I was told "we do things a little differently here, so our vet is old, he's 66, and he's very worried about COVID, so I will take your cat in then he will come and explain everything, but you can't come in". I'm 100% with being COVID safe, but this clinic had zero precautions in place. No masks, no hand sanitizer, no signs at the reception or their website. None of the staff had masks on, and when I suggested wearing one and sanitizing my hand so I could come in with my cat, the technician checked with the vet and said no "sorry but he is very stubborn". This was never mentioned on their website or when I booked the appointment on the phone, and seems a very made up way to not let owners go in with their pets. This was all off putting and I walked out on the appointment.

Staff are attentive and helpful, grooming service is on point, and very helpful for pets with longer fur and mats. Only point of contention is that sometimes the veterinary clinic is open for business, but the staff are not present, and only the groomer is on site. So it makes it difficult to pickup meds and prescriptions for your animal. Not a consistent thing to happen, but something to be aware of in case.
