How to Save Money at University Veterinary Clinic
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.
How Do You Choose the Right Pet Insurance Provider?

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

UVC took good care of my senior cat and gave excellent advice until he passed away at age 19. I took him in for an annual checkup and a few extra appointments when he had an eye infection and a bladder infection They fixed him up quickly and advised me on his changing dietary needs.

Dr. Zaigham and the reception lady all seemed to be genuinely interested in my dog’s well being, however their practice is extremely unprofessional and money oriented. The first time I sent my puppy in when she was 2 month old for a regular body check, the doctor said my puppy with one dose of basic vaccination can go outside if i got her the kennel cough vaccine, i did what he told. However a lot of OTHERS would disagree and i learned from other professional vets and my breeder dogs can ONLY go out after being fully vaxxed. He also said that my puppy needs a booster one month after the first kennel cough vaccine, but other clinics, which have very much more professionally trained doctor told me if the kennel cough vaccine was administered through nose there is no need for booster, and I got this confirmed from multiple sources. The second time I visited the clinic for my dog’s swollen paws, the doctor prescribed 70 dollar worth prescription spray, and told me he would offer ear wax cleaning service to my dog for 29 dollar. He marked this during my first visit to the clinic and said that if he did the cleaning service, my dog would never have to clean her ear again. This time he flip flopped saying if my dog got new ear wax it would be due to infection (which is something really ridiculous since cockapoo is known for ear wax accumulation), he again offered some kind of ear drop but i declined as I cannot trust him for any advice given to my puppy. Now only 5 days later i found out my dog got new ear wax accumulation so his service and promises were completely a scam. I wouldn’t dispute they offer affordable prices, which is good if you are price conscious. But please think twice if you would pay a little extra in another clinic to get some real professional medical advice. I talked to some of my neighboring dog owners who all told me this clinic is notoriously known for its subpar service. Had I known that I would never waste 150 dollar to let the doctor see my dog’s swollen paws just to prescribe something which my puppy does not really need since it appears to heal itself. Staffs at this clinic do not speak fluent English. I’m a nonnative english speaker too so I understand it is hard to get something started in a new country. But when you are seeking medical advice for your puppy clarity and professionalism is absolutely needed. They certainly do not need to speak extremely fluent english, but at least stay away from tricking unwary customer and offering misleading advice. It is very hard to get your message crossed and understood by them. The “clinic” does not have a proper medical environment look at all. I rarely write a long negative review, but their undesirable service has made me hard to not to. To many people who consider their pet a close part of their family: please avoid this clinic for the sake of your wallet and your puppy’s wellbeing. I don’t mind to pay, but it has to worth the price.

People here are really friendly and professional. Dr. Zaigham and Jimin has shown lots of care, they explained what each vaccine is for very patiently, and answered all the questions I had. This is really helpful for first time pet parents like me. I was worried about finding a good vet for my puppy, and I'm glad that I found here. Thank you!

After trying to convince my former vet to try less invasive tactics , I found this clinic to be super friendly , knowledgable and ready to listen . I did not feel the vet was condescending , he listened carefully , and proposed a great treatment plan going forward . I was very pleased with the cost . I will now take both my cats here as I feel I can really trust this doctor . I would like to add that after a very affordable treatment , my cat has stopped coughing . It was very distressing continually being told to have a very expensive scan done instead of listening to me and trying to treat my cat for asthma . As a result I spent a lot of money with zero results . This clinic is small with easy parking outside. The day after I attended the clinic , I had a phone call to check up on my cat and see how he was doing!!! That’s never happened before in all my years of animal ownership . This doctor listens respectfully and was very informative.Excellent result for my cat. I have now transferred both my cats to this clinic . Finally a vet I can trust who gets results .
