How to Save Money at Green Acres Animal Hospital

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Took our cat Elroy here this morning for the first time. We highly recommend this vet clinic. It's amazing in every way. We were impressed from the moment we stepped in and were greeted and helped by such friendly staff. The doctor was so nice and took the time to talk to us and make sure we understood everything. Her treatment options were perfect for Elroy as well. Again, highly recommend this clinic. Can not thank all of the staff enough.

★★★★★ We cannot say enough good things about Green Acres Clinic! After our dog sustained an eye injury this past week, we needed help fast and our regular vet turned us away. Though we were clients at another vet clinic, Green Acres quickly welcomed us with open arms and provided the most compassionate and extraordinary care we could have asked for. What really made a difference for me was that I was allowed to go in and wait with our dog while he was assessed and treated. Their team was and continues to be so kind, thorough, and clearly dedicated to making sure our dog (and us!) is well taken care of. Thanks to their prompt and expert treatment, our dog is on the road to recovery, and we’re beyond grateful. Without a doubt, we are 100% switching to Green Acres for all of our future vet needs! Highly recommend!

I cannot say enough about the compassion shown by the staff at Green Acres when I had to put my first ever pet down in mid October. It was the hardest decision I have ever made. I am so happy that I went to Green Acres for that. When I received my dog’s remains a week later with a beautiful card, it brought tears to my eyes. Thank you so much too the staff there for taking such great care of us and my sweet dog Gracie. Special thanks to veterinarian Ronalee for her care and compassion.

I had excellent care of my Yorkshire Terrier. Dr. Ronalee Hansen was gentle and caring. . I couldn't ask for better care . Today, I had a repeat visit with my Jade , had more tests done, and I am sure this will be handled with the knowledge and expert advice to help Jade . Dr. Ronalee Hansen discusses all situations in a considerate and caring manner . I love the way she handles my Jade with gentleness . I appreciate that she returns my phone calls to discuss necessary tests and asks how Jade is doing . The care and respect they have for Jade is amazing. The staff is polite and is caring as well . Most appropriate place to go for your pets health and well-being . After all, your pets are family members, and they deserve the best . I would recommend Greenacres to anyone as they really care .

My family has been using Green Acres for our fur babies since I was a kid! When I became an adult, moved out on my own and got my own fur babies, I didn't think twice about going to Green Acres for my pets needs. I have a sweet German Shepherd, Lorenzo, and a lovey Calico kitty, Lido (pronounced Lee-dough - like Lido Beach in Italy). My babies actually get excited when I tell them it's vet time! Well.. Lorenzo more than Lido. Cats are cats, but I'd like to think she's secretly excited. Lorenzo just loves Dr. Sarah Barnes so much! She is very kind, and has a gentleness about her that you can feel. They may be a bit more $$ than a couple other places, but to me the quality of care is worth it. I highly recommend Green Acres Animal Hospital! Keep it up guys! 🌻❤️🌺
