How to Save Money at North East Animal Clinic

Schedule Regular Vet Visits

One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.

Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions

Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.

Pet Insurance

Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.

Getting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask

Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:

Tell me about your experience with [pet type].

Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.

How do you handle emergencies?

You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.

How do you communicate with pet owners?

Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.

Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?

Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.

Do you have any questions for me about my pet?

This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.

Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?

Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.

Love the no nonsense right to the point approach from this clinic. They always fit my girls in, even on their busiest days. The Dr. tells us what he feels is the best option for whatever has brought us in & let's us decide what to do, always doing his best to keep the cost reasonable. I've never been asked to agreed to any unnecessary tests for procedures therefore I've never injured any unnecessary costs from this vet clinic, which is quite refreshing considering that I found most of them like to charge you as much as they possibly can for as much as you will allow them to or that they can talk you into. Putting your pet through unnecessary trauma and stress and your bank account as well. I'm very grateful for this clinic & their services. Reasonable prices, Flexible schedules & no nonsense care. I recommend them to anyone. Although it's a bit of a drive from where we live it's definitely worth the extra time & fuel. 100%

Our then “new rescued pets” over 5 years ago were seen here from having their first sets of vaccines to having surgical procedures. When we were at this clinic both front desk staff we’ve seen have been friendly, professional and caring. The Vet we saw was an older gentleman who gave a serious-no-nonsense type with a caring vibe that didn’t try to upcharge us with any unnecessary treatments. It almost felt like he was being mindful of incurring unnecessary expense, which I appreciated then and now. This point became more profound as finding a good quality Vet and clinic was hard to find in Oregon. Thank you NE Animal clinic for staying true to ensuring your staff then were professional and equally caring as your techs and Vet. Have a wonderful weekend. Pic below is a pic of our pets after having had a procedure done at NE Animal clinic in 2017.

I used to love this vet for price but now despise them with every bone in my body. The veterinarian always seemed to be scared of dogs. Even my friends dogs who I referred to this vet. Thought it was because he mainly focused on cats. Nope. Check out all of my stories below. They Told my sister her dog was sick because he wasnt neutered, then he died of cancer 1 month later due to tuscular cancer . Told my friend they had no idea what the abscess On his dog's face was, didn't offer tests, said probably just a tooth abscess, he got a second opion and was cancer and had to be put down. They also told me my old dog didn't have a tumor as I thought and it was just a fat build up because he was over weight, he died of cancer a few months later due to the cancerous tumor, the same tumor they said was nothing. I brought my new puppy there just for shots and the veterinarian was actually scared of her. She was a legit puppy. Wiggly and fluffy. Sweetest girl you'll ever see. Switching vets and feel terrible for suggesting my friends go here and believing their words. Should have gotten a second opionion like my friend did, or better yet, never have gone in the first place.

Terrible! I've been taking my pets here for the past 6 years, and I'm now taking my business somewhere else. I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, but talking rudely over the phone to your customers anytime they call, you just get tired of it. Unfortunate, but luckily I found another vet and they were happy to take my call and my business.

The clinic is unsanitary and sketchy, prices can change and you wont be notified about it until you have to pay. Doctor seems to be impatient and easily irritated as well as the receptionist. The lady is passive aggressive and not very friendly. Can't handle dogs properly and are scared? I wouldn't recommend any to go to this clinic unless you REALLY have to.
