How to Save Money at Alberta Veterinary Dentistry
Schedule Regular Vet Visits
One of the best ways to save on vet bills is to prevent expensive health issues before they develop. By scheduling regular wellness checkups, your vet can detect health issues early, helping you to avoid costly treatments and surgeries down the road.
Price Shop for Pet Prescriptions
Oftentimes our fur babies are prescribed human drugs off-label. Your vet is apt to charge more for these medications than you would pay at your local pharmacy. In fact, big-box or chain pharmacies can offer steep discounts. So it’s best to price shop.
Pet Insurance
Most pet insurance providers will pay between 80% and 90% of the vet bill. You can even get coverage for routine care and things like vaccinations and dental cleanings. If you do the math, you’ll most likely find that pet insurance makes financial sense in the long run as well as gives you peace of mind.
How Do You Choose the Right Pet Insurance Provider?

Get Quotes & CompareGetting to Know Your New Vet: Essential Questions to Ask
Choosing a new veterinarian is an important decision for any pet owner. You want to find someone who is competent, compassionate, and a good fit for you and your fur baby. To help you get the most out of your first appointment, here's a list of essential questions to ask your new vet:
Tell me about your experience with [pet type].
Different vets have different areas of specialization. Some are experts with cats, some dogs, some pocket pets, and some horses. Knowing that your vet has vast experience treating your specific type of pet can bring you peace of mind.
How do you handle emergencies?
You must know what to do in case of a pet medical emergency. Inquire what after-hours policy the clinic has, whether they have on-site emergency care available, and if they have a relationship with any nearby emergency animal hospitals.
How do you communicate with pet owners?
Good communication is key to building a trusting relationship with your vet. Ask how they prefer to communicate (phone calls, emails, online portal) and how often you can expect to hear from them.
Are there any breed-specific health concerns I should be aware of?
Some breeds are predisposed to certain health conditions. Knowing what to watch out for can help you catch problems early and get your pet the treatment they need.
Do you have any questions for me about my pet?
This is a great question to ask because the answer will show that the vet is interested in getting to know your pet as an individual and is willing to listen to your concerns.
Bonus question: Can I take a tour of your facility?
Getting a feel for the clinic's environment can help you and your pet feel more comfortable during your visits. Remember, you’re not just looking for a veterinarian, you’re looking for a partnership. Do not be afraid to ask these questions and any others you can think of. Any vet worth their salt will be happy to answer them. Because the more informed you are, the better equipped you'll be to make decisions about your pet's care! And that should be every vet’s top priority.
Reviews from Google
I cannot thank Alberta Veterinary Dentistry enough for the care and compassion they showed me and my cat, Razz. After three long months of uncertainty and worry, Dr. Rigby and her incredible team provided me with the clarity I so desperately needed. At my initial consult on September 11, they immediately recognized the urgency of Razz’s condition and were able to squeeze him in for imaging within just 4 days. Sadly, the results revealed nasal cancer rather than the dental issue my regular vet had suspected. While the news was heartbreaking, I am deeply grateful for the professionalism, honesty, and compassion shown throughout the process. Dr. Rigby and her staff were sensitive to all of my concerns, answered my questions with patience, and treated both me and Razz with the utmost respect and care. Their commitment to getting answers quickly brought me peace of mind in a very difficult time. I wholeheartedly recommend Alberta Veterinary Dentistry. They are a truly exceptional team, and I am so grateful for their support.

I have nothing but the utmost respect for this Veterinary Dentistry, Doctor Rigby and her staff. They are kind, welcoming, respectful, so knowledgeable, phenomenal, fantastic, wonderful, and the list goes on and on. They were extremely informative with our furry family member Leon, and knew exactly what he needed to get back to being his normal self. Doctor Rigby and her team (everybody including the front desk staff), were so kind and gentle with him. It’s never a comfortable feeling knowing that your family member (the fur babies do count!) is in major need of help, but they made this process so easy, and so worth it. Our boy is in recovery mode but he is in great spirits, and if you have any reserved feelings about doing anything here, please do not hesitate. I would recommend them 100/10. If we ever need anymore dental care for our boy, I won’t even hesitate bringing him back here. Thank you Doctor Rigby and team, you guys have made everything worth the wait, and outperformed the hype of the right dental care! We love this office, and have a love for the staff that took Leon in and got him back on the road to being his happy loving self! The Hyggen Family

My dog and I did not have a good experience here. But I don’t live to disparage other companies. I would just say buyer beware.

My kitty Ziggy Bear is doing so fabulous! Great team, always kind and patient, great care, very knowledgeable doctors! I love this place. And so does my little Ziggy, he has no teeth at the age of 12 but he is a happy cat, now called "Gummy Bear"

Alberta veterinary dentistry was amazing, and exceeded expectations from start to finish. We were referred from our vet in BC. Dr Rigby did a thorough phone consult, explaining the procedure, any risks, and what to expect during healing. On the day of surgery, we were provided with updates throughout the day, and a few of the ladies kept our pup company while he was waking up from surgery. Discharge was very thorough and they followed up the following day to see how he was doing. Once back home, our dog ended up losing a stitch and having to be seen by our regular vet. Dr Rigby talked with our vet and helped to determine the best solution. The whole team at AB veterinary dentistry went above and beyond. Their knowledge and care for their patients and their owners is so clear! Would not hesitate to go here again if we ever need to see a veterinary dentist again. Thank you for all that you do! You all really made a stressful time much easier.
