My claims request was denied. I did not contest it since the conditions were quite clear about pre existing issues. But if there are veterinarians reviewing the claims in detail, they would have noted, that although she was still overweight, her weight had recently gone up and I was trying to ensure the absence of tumors or organ enlargement or constipation or reduced GI motility. Instead only generalized diagnosis was taken into consideration. I hope the claims process can become more refined in the future.

Trupanion is keeping my cat alive!
My cat suffers from chronic pancreatitis that was diagnosed about a year ago. If I had not had Trupanion insurance, she would most likely not be alive today. Because of this insurance, she is able to have regular treatments (fluids, shots, medication) that manages her condition. If I had not had insurance, I could only be reactive when she showed signs of flare ups - that sometimes take a few months to stabilize. Thank you Trupanion, she is beside me now on her back and purring.
