Very disappointed

Healthy Paws is the Best!
My canine best bud, Bandit, became suddenly and desperately GI-sick a couple weeks ago. I took him to the hospital and he had to stay in the ICU for two days. I’m pleased to say he’s recovering well. You can imagine how stressful and scary it was for both of us - and how expensive!! I am so grateful to Healthy Paws for supporting us during this experience. I called them while Bandit was in the hospital to go over my policy and begin preparing myself for the cost. The agent was compassionate and patient, expressing genuine concern for Bandit’s well being, and walked me through the information I needed. She also advised on documentation from the hospital that would speed processing of my insurance claim. I submitted all the paperwork on a Sunday afternoon and already had the claim settlement by Wednesday! I was amazed at how much money I received back, how quickly they processed the claim, and how kind they were throughout the process. They even emailed me afterward to check on how Bandit was feeling! I highly recommend Healthy Paws to anyone who is looking for insurance for their pet. It was 100% worth it for us, and the claim experience couldn’t have gone more smoothly! Could be better
While Trupanion pays, I find they play too many games and frequently require an appeal, which can take 2-6 weeks while my money is tied up, is annoying to my vet, and a time waster. I have no idea how they justify eliminating exam fees; to me that's an integral part of the diagnostic procedure. In addition, their policy of a separate deductible for every issue adds up; none of the other health insurance providers do that and last year my $500 deductible turned into thousands on top of their already high monthly fees, which increased 30% last year even for one of my dogs who had no claims whatsoever. To be honest, if my other dog didn't have a preexisting condition, I would move her to another carrier, like I did with the first.
