We recently lost our 18 month Maltese puppy to some form of meningitis. It has been one of the most painful times. Trupanion was a blessing and supported us all the way through with timely payment benefits and automatically refunded our last policy payment when she passed. We now have two new puppies and thrilled to sign up with them again

Do Not recommend this company - everything will end of being pre-existing
Embrace has denied all but one claim I’ve submitted since we purchased the policy saying they are pre existing issues. He had an issue prior to the policy taking affect and Embrace is basing their decision on that piece of medical information even though we never submitted a claim. We were told to wait 30 days for policy to take affect which we did however they are making decisions based on what occurred during and prior to buying the policy. In addition, he had a cough one time which is now a pre-existing condition. We took him in for what appeared to be megaesophagus and because it had a cough with it - they wouldn't cover the cost of anything related to it and now it considered a permanent existing condition therefore I can't get any insurance to cover this. A cough and megaesophagus are two totally different things, yet they have decided they are the same. The same for diarrhea - what puppy do you know doesn't have diarrhea being in a new environment and being taken from his puppy family. We had one payout of $25.00 over the years time. Everything we submitted either went to the deductible (which we understood) or what they have decided is pre-existing condition. To me it was a way for them not to pay. Insurance companies are all the same whether human or animal insurance - just want to make money!!

HAS NEVER COVERED ANYTHING
We purchased FIGO two years ago for our two golden retrievers. In that time we submitted THREE claims. All were denied because apparently and ear infection is a pre-existing conditions. Their claim specialists comb through your records and since one of my dogs had an ear infection TWO years ago I guess that counts as pre-existing. I just took my younger golden to the vet because she had terrible diarrhea for 3 days, was not eating and was dehydrated. The vet ran numerous tests to determine the cause. I walked out with a $1100 bill. Submitted a claim. FIGO denied it all. Hence the reason I’ve canceled my pet insurance with FIGO. Will be looking into more dependable and honest options.

I have never had insurance on a pet
I have never had insurance on a pet. I wasnt sure if I wanted to spend the money but I called and someone was easy to contact and explained exactly what I needed. VERY VERY helpful. Glad I decided to spend the money well worth it.

I have had a terrible experience with Trupanion. I took my dog to the vet for excessive vomiting, as she was vomiting 15 times in 3 hours because she ate something toxic. She ended up being fine, and I submitted my claim to Trupanion. Since my puppy vomited 2 times in the past, when she was 3 months old, during the time she received her puppy shots. Trupanion is calling my puppy's near-death experience a 'pre-existing' condition. Since my puppy vomited in the past, they now claim that this is a pre-existing condition for her. I am going through the appeals process but will most certainly be canceling my membership once (or if) this even gets sorted out. Watching my dog being so sick and then having multiple representatives tell me that this is because of a 'pre-existing' condition is disgusting. I signed up for Trupanion because of the positive reviews and the care I thought I would be receiving from my pet after speaking to representatives on the phone. Instead, if feels like they don't even care that my dog almost died, as long as they get my monthly payments, which are also going up because I moved states. Being told that my puppy's near-death experience is because of a pre-existing condition is disgusting, disheartening and rude. I will never trust my claims with this insurance company again. I do hope others have better experiences but this process has been an absolute nightmare and I would not recommend my friends to use this service. Update: I have provided my details to Trupanion upon request and still haven’t heard from them.
