Co-pay included with Deductible
My insurance is listed as a $500 deductible and a 10% co pay after the deductible has been met. The company is charging me the $500 deductible plus 10% before they will pay on a claim. So I must pay $550 before the company pays on a claim. This amounts to a $550 deductible and not a $500 deductible. The representative I spoke to on 6/17/23 at 1:30pm was not helpful or at least only spoke the company line. I find this misleading in your advertising.

Don't believe their marketing - they flat out lie.
Worst experience ever with this company. Its a lie that they pay out whatever percentage you are paying for. They do not pay for any exam fees which when your pet has cancer is what costs the most. The actual part that they pay out of a $2500 bill is for the chemo which is only $115. Just about everything else that made up the $2500 bill was considered by Healthy Paws as an exam and therefore does not get paid back to the customer. Not only that, they do not actually pay out claims in the 2 day or even 10 days after submitting a claim. I submitted a claim back on 5.2.2023, today is 6.26.2023 and they still haven't paid for it. I called in, asked to speak to a manager who and I have it on recording, says there is no way to expedite my claim nor is there a set number of days where it would be considered to long to wait. In other words they can hold off on paying out a claim for over a year without you being able to escalate it to have it taken care of faster. You are at their mercy. I have been a customer since 2019 when i had the necessary exam done when I first signed up, and we had no issues or vet visits until recently and NOW they were telling us that exam we did after signing up wasn't eligeable because they didn't have the right medical records? All the records were uploaded. They wanted me to wait the 15 day grace period AGAIN starting 5.2.2023, even though I'd already been a paying customer for FOUR years at that point AND did the initial exam. I had to send the medical records for that 2019 exam several times until they decided they will look over my 2023 claims again to SEE if they can allow them to be covered. Why had I been paying for FOUR years when apparently they didn't have the information they needed? Only now do I find out? And now ALL of my claims (which I've had a lot now since my cat has cancer) are being held up. I'm over $6K down, thinking I was going to be ok because they'd cover 70% of the bills only to find out I've been basically lied to and IF they cover things, it'll be a small amount, and I could be waiting for them to even pay THAT out for basically ever. DO NOT use these people. I regret signing up and believing the reviews. I don't see how they're made by real people. I'm happy to send anyone who wants the video recording of my call to anyone who request it. Send me an email to retteg39gmailcom. Oh and you can never speak with the same person. The supervisor will also refuse to transfer you to their manager. They hung up on my and never called me back. also have a recording of that.

Very disappointing experience! After reading all these great reviews
After reading all these great reviews, I decided to take insurance for my 8 month puppy. My puppy had 2 accidents: first time he swallowed a rope and 2nd time he jumped from sofa and limped on one of his paws. Both times we rushed to see our vet and had 2 invoices after. Despite the fact both cases are purely insurance cases, Trupanion didn't pay any single dollar. In first case, they told that certain manipulation or services are not covered. Such us veterinary exam! But veterinary ALWAYS charge for this service. And the rest of the bill isn't covered because of franchise. Total: 0 refund In second case, we were not covered because breed of my dog (boston terrier) has predisposition for weak joints. Also I discovered that boston terriers will not be covered for eyes, heart problems, etc. Trupanion doesn't tell about this but just ask them for the list of things they will not cover in advance, in order not to have bad surprises after. We stopped our insurance and decided simply to put aside 55$ of monthly fees on our own account. Because none of Trupanion hypothetical payments in the future will provide us with peace of mind.
