Long wait time for coverage

Disappointed in the long wait time until coverage begins. I have a puppy and have already been to the vet and had to lay out if pocket because we are still waiting for coverage to begin.

I tried calling with a question

I tried calling with a question. I didn't know there was a 14 day grace period. My dog had to go to the ER the day I enrolled. I couldn't get a hold of anyone because the automated system said "we do not provide the insurance". Then who does? How can I get in contact with them?

Transparent, honest and lifesaving

I’ve always carried insurance on my pets and have been very disappointed in most of them until pumpkin. Very clear about coverage, not misleading, no sneaky loopholes to deny a claim. I am heartbroken my boy needs to utilize it and would prefer he was well with all my heart as he is my “child” but It’s been a lifesaver for me. I tell everyone I know about pumpkin Insurance.

I have been with Trupanion for 8 years

I have been with Trupanion for approximately 8 year. My dog is now going on 15. During this time my premiums when began at about $70 a month grew to now nearly $190 a month and have cost on average $2000 or more for the past three years. Until about eight months ago it had been good with covering most of the issues my Dog has had. BUT most recently about 8 months ago-- my dog at age 15 when you need them most -- Trupanion's practices changed. They have created their own conditions other than what my dog has been treated for when I would submit claims for chiropractic care under the additional coverage plan that while I have maintained since I first joined - had never used prior to late in 2022. In deed they decided on their own to create a condition called "spinal arthritis" that my dog has NEVER been diagnosed with and has NEVER been treated for. Approximately one year ago he was seen for a limp and the veterinarian specialist opined he had either Hip dysplasia and/or arthritis in his hips. Initially Trupanion covered chiropractor treatments for 2 or 3 visits, but then out of the blue denied subsequent claims - on the basis they were paid on prior treatment claims. When appealed they changed their position to state that while he was being reated for hips PRIMARILY the treatment also provided relief for "spinal arthritis" a condition my dog AGAIN HAS NEVER been diagnosed with. Thrupanion contends that there is a difference between hip arthritis and spinal arthritis as according to Trupanion these are two different parts of the body. And, nonetheless and regardless of Trupanion's own admission that even were there such a condition it was not primary benefit but rather a side benefit they began splitting the cost 50/50 between 2 conditions - all for the sole purpose of collecting yet another deductible. Our chiropractic vet has spent an inordinate amount of time on phone calls and holds to discuss this with Trupanian and has continually and repeatedly informed them that my dog is NOT BEING treated for this unknown condition they call spinal arthritis, but rather has explained repeatedly that arthritis in hips is a skeletal condition for which chiropractic adjustments treat. Trupanion continues to falsely assert they based their decision on information provided by our veterinarian which our veterinarian disputes. To bolster their position they have provided a link to a sole practitioner vet article from the east cost who discussed the connection between hip dysplasia and hip arthritis. Notably that article is also void of any mention of a condtion called "spinal arthritis" and goes no where to support their position. I have reviewed an article provided from a nationwide known and respected facility VCA which discussions the exact issue - that being the confusion between hip dysplasia and hip arthritis. Again no mention of Spinal arthritis. That article confirms - consistent with my dog who was 14 when I was told he may have hip dysplasia, is that more often than not the condition when diagnosed later in life is more likely hip arthritis - similar to humans who develop arthritis as they age, and not dysplasia. And even when it is hip dysplasia - arthritis in the hip is not an unusual event, and directly related to the hip dysplasia and not a separate condition. Trupanion's actions designed for the sole purpose to save themselves nominal sums equal to an additional deductible for a non-existing new condition are in bad faith and egregious. I have attempted repeatedly to address this with them, only to experience significant delays (6 weeks and longer to process), double talk through electronic transmissions, false representations, and appeal representatives refusal to speak. I am proceeding with complaints to the State of California Insurance Commissioner as well as will post a complaint with the Better Business Bureau. As to the latter I have now taken the time to review, and it appears I am not alone with my complaint. i have in the past recommend this company to friends as well as various canine associations I am affiliated with. Going forward that will not be the case. Instead I will be very vocal as to my dissatisfaction with Trupanion and their clear bad faith. Apparently Trupanion has no interest in I am writing this review for all pet lovers to take the time to research and read reviews. Premiums go up significantly annually, and when your loved pet is in his/her senior years is when you rely on this coverage most to provide them with the best quality of life you can provide, and when the insurance is most needed. I am sadly disappointed and will make this WIDELY known through the social media avenues available to me as well as my own network!!!

Bad experience

I recently adopted my dog from the shelter and bought Fetch insurance. 6/28: I made the first payment for a general checkup. The hospital only had an invoice but no notes on this date since i couldnt get the samples for the tests until later. On 7/21, the vet recorded a lot of notes but didnt specify 6/28 or 7/21. 7/10: I brought my dog to an emergency service because she had diarrhea. I submitted claims for 6/28, 7/10 and 7/21 and they found ridiculous reasons to reject them all. 6/28: no doctor notes besides the invoice. 7/10: didnt have a prior checkup after starting insurance (I think they try to prove that my dog’s diarrhea was a pre-existing condition (!?) even though i started buying insurance about a month before this date. Could a dog have diarrhea for more than month without treatment??). 7/21: because of prior rejected claims do they are not processing this. They have no phone number to call. The appeal process is emailing back and forth with someone who constantly looks for faults in everything you say so they can get away without paying anything. Is this company a scam? Do dog owners need to go through this pain after paying a ton in hospital bills and insurance premiums?

Embrance Pet Insurance Is Amazing!

I have had pet insurance with Embrace Pet for a few years now. I opted in for the wellness addition. They are wonderful! Great coverage and it is very easy to submit a claim online. You do have to pay out of pocket first, they reimburse very quickly. I highly recommend if you are needing pet insurance.
