This was our first dog insurance…the best!!
This was our first dog insurance purchase. This was without a doubt the best experience I’ve ever had with an insurance company. I wish human insurance was as easy! Our sweet English shepherd had incurable nasal cancer. We have a wonderful specialty vet hospital/clinic here in Dallas with an oncology dept. that I can’t say enough great things about. Our pet required CT scans, surgeries, anesthesia chemotherapy and radiation. I sent the invoices in and 80% of our bill was taken care of after our 1000.00 deductible. Our bills were over 12,000 and Trupanion paid every invoice I sent in no questions asked and they were very prompt. This went on for almost a year ( Oct 2022-Aug 2023) Sadly, the nasal cancer spread and we needed to put our sweet pet to sleep. Trupanion phone personnel were so sympathetic and caring. My dog became very ill and no vet could properly diagnose him at first. Spot pet insurance covered my vet bills, emergency vet bills, and specialist vet bills. I would highly recommend.

I'm happy that at least the company has kind people working there, I was treated very well by everyone, but that's it, when you start paying for insurance no one tells you that you need to have your dog checked out. And when you don't do this, every problem your dog has, they say it's pre-existing so they don’t pay you. My dog came from Brazil, without any problems because a sick dog cannot travel. He had a check up in Brazil to travel and came here in May, in August he had skin problems, and the vet thinks it is an allergy to the environment make sense he is in a new country. Fetch refused to pay for the claim because they claim it could be something pre-existing. So why don't they ask us to do a check up when we start paying the company? Now I have a big problem because if I start at another company this will be a pre-existing problem, so I need to stay on my own. When I called to close my police they told me, pay for a check up and the next things will be covered, and we ignore the problem that appears now? Do I keep paying them and the medicine? Why they didn't tell me this before a problem appeared, very mean of you. For you it’s just one more person or few dollars but for me it is stability of my family, it is not a joke. I am very upset I didn’t expect that. Thank you for causing me such a headache. About the reply: If this is the issue, they should have warned me beforehand, it is necessary to make the rules clear, none of my friends had a check up before the first problem with their pet. And as I said, my dog came from another country, he did a check to travel, this is mandatory, the CZI is an international document and even though I presented this, you ignored it, the only way to help me is by recognizing my claim, which is legitimate, in otherwise I will look for my legal rights
