Spotty, Shoddy and Shady
The Preventative "Wellness" Platinum plan reimbursement is nowhere near what you get charged by your vet. NONE of the money I've paid my vet has been applied to my deductible (which is $900 this year). They say they don't have waiting coverage when they absolutely do... and the website says there customer service line is 24/7 but it's not. I shouldn't have to make a call to cancel my policy but there's no way to do it online - yet you're not even open right now?! Such a waste of money. Purchase elsewhere - Spot Insurance is spotty at best.

Waiting period every time you are late or lapse.
The day after my trial policy expired I was not allowed to continue coverage without having to wait another waiting period.

Trupanion came through with flying colors! The ease of their website and 24/7 open chat. Reimbursement was lightening quick. Rosie would not be here without the quick response of Dr. Kayla and team over at Huntsville Veterinary Emergency.

Love it
A bit more expensive than other plans but honestly really great. It was always so easy to file and everyone I worked with was always nice and willing to help me. The app made it so easy. When my dog passed suddenly recently they were so kind. I will be getting this again when I'm ready to adopt another pet.

Best decision I could have made
So far everything about Spot has been positive. I adopted a young pup and decided to purchase health insurance. Spot had the best overall program of coverage vs cost. It was the best decision I could have made. Unfortunately I have already had to use it. Puppies get into everything!

Their policy has shady wording to lead…
Their policy has shady wording to lead you astray during decision making in emergent settings. I feel very much taken advantage of for all the money I’ve contributed to Trupanion, who does not take care of their customers that are making decisions based off their policy coverage documents. I would not recommend this company at all because it feels intentionally vague that they phrase things the way they do to avoid doing right by their loyal customers. They will call one thing a “condition” then the next time tell you it’s a “symptom” and that’s how they get out of paying for it because of not knowing what exactly the diagnosis is. You’d be better off putting their monthly premium amounts in your own savings account! I wish I did before I learned the hard way.
