Always the Best

Max has been insured by Healthy Paws since he was 8 weeks old and we’ve never questioned our choice of insurers. This claim is for a limp that has persisted for months. Although the problem is still being diagnosed, Max has seen four vets and is seeing another today. Hp has paid thousands of dollars for these procedures to date while we have paid hundreds. They have reached out to me to voice their continued commitment to solving the issue and support for whatever claims that will ensue. We only have to be concerned about Max’s welfare and not about extreme financial decisions.

MetLife Pet Insurance Is The Best

I adopted my pup Nila from Companion Pet Rescue (CPR) when she was 3 months old, she soon will be 8 years. CPR provided one month of pet insurance with MetLife Pet, which I’ve continued her entire life. She has a short, single coat and has suffered allergies and skin issues since she was a puppy. I’ve counted on MetLife Pet to help with the expense of her treatments, and they’ve been there for me with their easy and quick online claim submission process. Nila recently found a baseball in the basement and thought it would be a good idea to rip off and consume the leather cover. After visits to two different emergency veterinary hospitals she’s fine, no surgery needed thank goodness. But those ER visits came at a very high price. Two days after I submitted the claim, MetLife Pet notified me that my claim was approved and payment on the way via direct deposit to my bank account. I couldn’t give Nila the care she needs if I didn’t have MetLife Pet insurance and I’m so grateful for the kindness, understanding and excellence of their customer service and claim staff. I’m a loyal MetLife Pet customer for life.

A bit expensive but worth it

I have been with this them for over a decade. It’s a bit on the pricey side but they are awesome. Never had a problem with a claim or having to fight with them about the policy. They provide what they say they will. Most claims are processed and paid for with 4-5 days. I would highly recommend them.

ASPCA was my first choice

The process to enroll my pup in ASPCA Pet Health Insurance was so easy! There were a number of options I could choose from, depending on what I thought her needs might be and how much I wanted to pay for her coverage. I would definitely choose ASPCA Pet Health Insurance going forward.

If you enjoy fighting for every claim, choose Embrace

I picked Embrace out of the pile at the recommendation of the shelter I adopted my dogs from. I have filed a half dozen or so claims for my older dog. Thus far, every significant claim I have filed resulted in a protracted period where I awaited response (at times longer than the 15 business day turnaround advertised), only to be told (erroneously) that my claim was denied due to the issue being a preexisting condition (which has been an incorrect assertion every time). These have been with different adjusters, so it’s puzzling that I’m seeing a pattern where the rationale is either fundamentally incorrect or they’re misinterpreting my dogs history. To make matters worse I am a human physician, so when the rationale doesn’t make any sense it’s straight forward for me to point it out. Yet only a few times has the decision reversed after my input. Other times they demand an appeal letter from the veterinarian to reconsider the decision, which most recently involved denying a claim because a preexisting condition was listed as one of ten potential explanations for an acute illness. Appeal letter writing is a tactic used by human insurance companies in the hopes that the doctor won’t have time or the patient will give up, which would be the equivalent of getting a bluff through in a game of poker and is functionally practicing medicine without a license. It makes me wonder how many Embrace customers accept claim decisions in good faith simply because they don’t have medical training. Thus far my experience has been frustrating due to delays and nonsense arguments from adjusters. Insurance is meant to be “peace of mind” and to protect those one values. Embrace advertises the letter of that sentiment but is quite brutally missing the spirit. Prospective buyers beware.
