Claim Processing takes a while, slow to respond
Claim processing always takes minimum 2 weeks and sometimes more. They are fairly slow to reply to email as well when it’s about claims. So far they’ve been reimbursing claims as expected but it’s just a very long wait. Also sometimes the agent on the phone is just wrong. I’ve asked if I could submit a claim for a past policy, and they said I couldn’t. However that wasn’t true, so long as the claim is made within 90 days of service and the past policy was active during that service date, it should be accepted.

We have been a customer of Trupanion…
We have been a customer of Trupanion for about 7 years plus. They were originally recommended to us by our breeder and she gave glowing reviews. We were happy with our choice until a year and a half ago when we added a new member to our family. It first started when we called to sign up our newest addition. We were given an astronomical quote and a no deductible plan and told they had changed their plan due to overwhelming feedback from there customers. As we later found out, that was one of many lies they will use to justify their business model shift. Just recently we called to cancel our policy and move to another provider. During this process we were passed along to a "Customer Service" rep. The sole job of this individual was to see what they could do to make us stay and that is when we were told about customers leaving due to their heavy handed new plan and policies. We are still in the process of pealing the onion and deciding if we are going to stay with Trupanion and their unethical business practices. I really feel like their should be a complaint submitted to the state insurance regulating agency as their explanations and logic for rate increase, policies, and other anomalies don't add up...

Wow! Trupanion paid $$$$
Wow! Trupanion is reimbursing me for my dog’s very pricey knee surgery! $5k!!! I am so grateful. A friend recommended Trupanion when I first got my English Bulldog. I have been amazed by the ease of submitting claims through the app and it doesn’t take forever for Trupanion to review. If they need more information, Trupanion will call the vet or animal clinic. Trupanion customer service is always nice and helpful. I will definitely get Trupanion again for my next dog.

Excellent!
Extremely happy with the service provided by Health Paws Insurance!! They have always been very quick to process our claims. Most recently, our dog's surgery had a claim and funds processed within 48 hours. The business operations seem solid, and the team reached out to check in on my dog after surgery. Highly recommend!

Disaster from the Start
When we selected our policy, the writer made errors in what we selected for coverage. We called immediately and told it could not be changed that we would have to wait a year to make any changes or updates. Every claim we submitted was denied even though it was for our puppy and fell within the guidelines. We wanted full coverage and did not receive what we requested. I do not recommend based on lack of customer service,

I had my doubts about pet insurance, but I was wrong.
My partner and I are INCREDIBLY grateful for Embrace Pet Insurance. We insured our three cats about a year or two ago when we adopted our two youngest ones. I was pretty skeptical about pet insurance. If it was anything like my regular health insurance for myself, I expected they'd never come through when I needed them. But I was willing to give them a shot. Well, turns out the oldest one ended up developing Feline Lower Urinary Tract Disease and was rushed to the vet, hospitalized for three days, and had to undergo surgery to save his life. When you're in the moment, you'd do anything for your little one. And at first glance of the bill, my heart sank. We had just started getting our savings up and this would have tanked us. But then I remembered that we pay for Embrace every month. And boy am I grateful we do! We had the majority of our costs reimbursed! And I'm even happier to report that our little guy is happy and healthy again! I'm grateful for Embrace because they are truly a great thing to have in your back pocket.

I would give Embrace zero stars if it was an option! My dog recently had back surgery due to sudden onset of paralysis of her hind legs. Six months prior to this she was treated for a hip injury which resulted from a fight with another dog. Embrace labeled her back problem as a pre-existing condition and denied my claim. I even provided a letter from my vet stating her hip issue was in no way related to her back problem. Evidently the claims adjuster knows more than my vet who examined and treated her for the hip problem! They also refused to pay for treatment of a UTI that she developed 6 weeks after the surgery! They said it was due to either her paralysis (she was only paralyzed for 16 days before her surgery) or urinary incontinence (which she never had). As a nurse, I know bacteria wouldn’t have lain dormant in her bladder for 6 weeks following surgery. I have since cancelled my policies for all of my dogs and gone with another company.
