Maybe I got lucky....
I was reading some of the previous reviews and was a little stunned to see how bad they were. I bought pet insurance for my dogs and was delighted to discover that they have a family plan at MetLife which is cheaper and it enables me to get unlimited coverage. We're always hoping we don't need insurance but I did. I had a $6,200 bill for Max and I thought this is going to take a while because it's a new insurance company for us they're going to have to get all of his old records review everything.. I was prepared to wait while my credit cards gained interest. Much to my astonishment my claim was paid today just one week later after the incident and probably 6 days after filing. I didn't have to fight with anyone they covered everything they said they would and the payment was in my bank account less than an hour after I chose my method of payment. I'm so very pleased but I'm a little scared because of all the bad reviews I've read. At this point though I can only recommend MetLife, they have done a really good job for us

My puppy had a foreign body ingestion requiring surgery. Pets best was there for us through the process. Everyone I spoke to was helpful and we were informed about our reimbursement within 3 weeks. Great customer service!

Thankful to have insurance during pet diagnosis
I was directed by our regular vet to a 24hr vet hospital that had digital x-rays available to help diagnose cats trouble with breathing. Because I had insurance I feel we were able to not be worried about going for further testing due to any financial costs. It really felt like we could do the best for our pet, keeping the focus on her rather than worrying about the cost of her care. We ended up losing her due to lung cancer, but we had a clear diagnosis and made our decision to let her go without suffering.
We changed method of payment because of a hacked credit card
I have never used the pet insurance. I’ve paid the premium for 2 months but our credit card was hacked so the premium, to ASPCA “ bounced” and they e mailed us. We spoked on the phone for a few minutes and I chamged the payment to the checking account so it will automatically come out of my checking account every month on the same date. ASPCA is on top of getting paid monthly for the pet insurance.

Terrible 30-day trial experience - BIG NO
I received an exam day offer to try Trupanion for 30-days. We haven't used insurance before, but I decided to activate the offer a few hours after I got home. My dog was perfectly find during his routine appointment (received his vaccines and annual bloodwork, general check-up). Enrollment was simple and straight forward. By the next morning, we started to notice that our pup had some lose stool, so we were monitoring it throughout the day. He also threw up a few times, and we figured that whatever it was would pass quickly and wasn't a cause for concern. Long story short, 48 hours after his vet appointment we had to go to the ER due to what we believe was a severe reaction to the Lyme Vaccine he received at the vet 2 days earlier (the same day we activated our Trupanion account). Trupanion declined coverage saying that because our dog was sensitive to a food he ate prior (and we told our previous vet about it so they could recommend different food options), that they determined it was a pre-existing condition. Even though, everywhere you read states that diarrhea is a treatable condition and not considered pre-existing. We appealed the denial and our Vet + the rep they spoke with at Trupanion were confident that the appeal will be approved because all agreed that it was luckily a reaction from the vaccine (though you can't 100% confirm that, as per what the vet said). Well, Trupanion decides to once again deny the claim, and this time stated that it was because of the vaccine he received BEFORE we enrolled. So either way, the company did whatever they could possible to find loop holes to deny, even though you can't 100% confirm what caused the severe diarrhea that my dog had. Definitely a company that at the end of the day (as expected) wants to save money however possible and find every and any loop hole that they can. Very disappointing 30-day trial and I will 100% NOT continue my coverage with them.
