My 1st claim didn't go well

This was my first claim. Shortly after submitting the claim I received an e-mail from Spot requesting all health records for my dog who is now 5. I asked why Spot would insure my pet without this information if required. That request went away. Next, I received an e-mail stating that Spot was missing information on my claim. I submitted with my claim a scanned copy of my Vet's invoice and details from the annual wellness exam. I called Spot to see what was missing from my claim. They told me that they contacted my Vet and got the information they needed. What was that? Why didn't they ask me? I don't remember authorizing Spot to contact my Vet. I'm not sure I trust Spot after this experience.
