Shame on Nationwide Insurance

They cancelled my dog’s insurance. She is almost 15 years old and can’t get insurance anywhere else at her age now. I’ve never missed a payment in 15 years and this is the thanks I get, especially when she needs it most. They said they were discontinuing “the plan” she was on but their employees told me the truth when I called to inquire about the reason for cancellation - Nationwide is cancelling all dogs over the age of 15. Despicable.

Claim process was very easy

Claim process was very easy. I had the approval in a few days and the money was in my account the day after the approval. I couldn’t be happier with my experience. It was one less headache I had to deal with while taking care of my dog. Best investment I’ve made

If NO star was an option to submit with…

If NO star was an option to submit with a review, I’d have done that! In big caps, DISAPPOINTED, HIGHLY! I will NEVER recommend this pet insurance to any of my friends and family for their furry kids! I bought this pet insurance for our 3 furry kids, a 10 year old Yorkie, 10 year old Siamese cat, and a 9 year old Shih Tzu. Our 10 year old Yorkie had teeth extraction, preliminary blood tests prior to the surgery and a microchip installation. My plan had the additional preventative care as well and all treatments were very clearly listed as covered! They had the requirement to have up to 12 months of medical history from the Vet! Fortunately, our furry kids are healthy and except their annual vaccinations, they hardly ever visit their Vet! Their Doc even makes fun that RIGALI-Malik kids are back for their boring annuals! This Insurance completed our Yorkie’s claim with $0 reimbursement with absolutely NO notes and a reason as to why nothing was reimbursed! I had to make numerous calls demanding an explanation! Their broken record was that we don’t have Tobias records for all 12 months and other vets! After confirming gazillion times that our kids always have had ONLY ONE vet since they became our family and that they hardly visit their vet except their annuals, WTH you want the vet to submit for every month that Tobias stopped by to say Hello in the month of January????? I have cancelled insurance for my kids and will NEVER reconsider them! They still have NOT reimbursed a dime! Stay away from them! They love to take the premiums and reimburse a big fat ZERO! Worst insurance and customer service EVER!

Disappointed

I purchased Fetch at the shelter where I rescued a dog. Got an email saying that I needed to get a first time check up. Pup had some allergies and a burping up of food. By figuring what she was allergic to and a few more trips to the vet Fetch only covered $90 of $ 600. I called in and thankfully the rep was honest with me a told me that pretty much everything with her stomach and allergies would always be consistent pre existing. Only reason why a two star and not one is because of the honesty . I cancelled

Pleasantly surprised! Excellent service!

I just sent a claim in with several days and charges on it. In just a few days it had been reviewed and paid. I've called customer service and they are also responsive and had answers to my questions. The website is easy to use. I am very satisfied with Spot and will continue to use them.

I ‘Spot’ed Something Shady

Never, never, ever would I recommend Spot for pet insurance. I was really on the fence about continuing my pet insurance after year one. So I called and talked to a representative and decided to cancel, but I was also a heavy user of the Spot app to check my bill date, coverage etc. Long story short I decided to cancel by phone in December, but in January I went on the app and renewed my policy. I even chose different coverage amounts and had a brand new premium. I was thinking this is great and convenient! However, in February I received a notice that I was dropped. No reminder leading up to that date, just your policy is over. That shouldn’t have been the case anyway since I renewed in the app with plenty of time left in my policy. Obviously I called to see what happened. My only response after talking to multiple people at Spot was, “Sorry the app doesn’t count you have to call back.” The representative should have told you this.” I was blown away. I was thinking to myself are they talking about those disclosures like “this call is being recording for quality training purposes.” I was blown away. What is the point of the app if you can’t actually use it and the app is not honored. Who has time to make a call sometimes? Also, how dumb of a company policy when you could continue to receive payments from a customer for an entire year. These insurance policies are not like car insurance that you can cancel or change at any time. You are locked in for a year. What is the real kicker is that after dropping me, anything that I had previously put in as a claim for my dog is now considered a pre-existing condition. Spot utilizes deceptive business practices and is just shady in their dealings. If you care about your pet, don’t even consider Spot! Updated 02-19-2025 after response from Spot and absolutely nothing changed. Don’t be fooled!
