Tons of plan options
The browser on a computer wouldn’t work, but my phone browser did. It was easy to compare plans and choose what was a good fit. Metlife seems to be the most affordable option in our area as well.

Great coverage, horrible customer services reps
I love the coverage and the options to build a custom plan. However, their customer service reps are horrible and unemphatic. I called twice, the second rep was the worst. He claimed I called 4 times and just don't get it (I lost a pet and wanted her coverage terminated, and yes, he actually said I didn't get it). I called twice, he me being transferred as 2 calls, he made it sound like I was an idiot. On top of that he overused my name, making it sound like he was talking to a child. This was all over a dispute about premiums. Apparently, even if they have your premiums for the month, when a pet dies your policy is reworked and you have to pay the new premium RIGHT AWAY while you wait for your refund. Times are hard, I couldn't afford to do that. Finally, it came to light that I could call the day before my premium was to be withdrawn out of my account, they would update the policy and withdraw the new amount. Had the guy started with that when I told him I couldn't afford to pay right away, it would have avoided a lot of hassle. Instead I was treated like a child who just didn't understand anything. Saying they understand is meaningless when they treat you like you are a child. I am not 100% confident they will NOT withdraw my old premium as well. I also sent them an email last week, no response. It wasn't until after my call that suddenly they decided to answer. These are sales people, they don't care. They work on commission. The first guy didn't even tell me I had options to change my current coverage on my remaining pets, he just quoted me about $20 less then I am paying now. Thank you, Metlife, for making a traumatic situation even worse.

Murphy had a serious reaction to a vaccination which necessitated a trip to the urgent vet. The online claim process at Healthy Paws was simple to complete, they responded very quickly, and our policy helped defray a significant chunk of the bill. I'm very happy with Healthy Paws and heartily recommend them!

Wanted Preventative & Accidental.....
I wanted preventative with the accidental policy. I missed it the first time. So I had to cancel the policy then went back in and obtain the policy I wanted. If you want preventative as well, you will need to click "Customize Plan".

Get this:
Get this: I have my two horses insured here for accident/colic. My horse had to have colic surgery and the bill was over $17,000. Guess how much they reimbursed me? $889.00!!! Don't know how or why they denied practically everything! What a joke. Canceling this insurance immediately! I thought having insurance through the ASPCA was the right thing to do since I donate to them regularly. Thought they would be an honest and trustworthy company. WRONG!!! ASPCA-don't bother to reply with an I'm sorry you had a bad experience and to call customer service.

Terrible Pet Insurance Company
Very unaffordable after a couple of years. I cancelled them when they increased my policies over $1,000 in one year and they also didn't cover items they had previously covered. I believe that was due to people not being properly trained. One time I submitted a claim for medication and they said food was not a covered item. It was a medication they had previously covered many times. Terrible company.
