ASPCA is A++
A couple of years ago my husband came home and told me about a co-workers dog being sick and how his co-worker had pet insurance with the ASPCA and raved about his coverage. He suggested that we too get pet insurance. Well, I cannot tell you how valuable that insurance turned out to be. My dog Hercules was 7 and perfectly healthy when we purchased the insurance policy. Two years later in the blink of an eye the health of my dog changed and the one thing I didn’t have to worry about was how to pay for his healthcare. I left for work one day and Hercules, my beautiful Jack Russell Terrier, was fine and when I came back he was limping. I thought for sure he had fallen while we were away but after a couple of months and lots of tests he was getting more and more sick. I was worried that we would not be covered but was told it was a “working diagnosis”. Finally, it seemed they had concluded he had some kind of tick-borne illness. He was treated and was still recuperating and starting to feel better, when all of a sudden he began shaking uncontrollably. I was not sure if this was related to his the first illness of if he had something new. I took him back to his vet who suggested that he be seen by a neurologist as his shaking seemed involuntary. I was worried thinking I must have exhausted my coverage but knew I had to take him to the vet to be seen. The neurologist told me he needed to perform a spinal tap to know what was going on with him and although it was an expensive procedure I knew this was what we needed to bring some resolution to what was happening. When all was said and done they found out he had something called idiopathic tremor syndrome which is treatable with steroids. I had paid for this procedure and the visit to the specialist on a credit card I opened at the vets office but surprisingly I found out I had not exhausted my coverage and that I was being reimbursed for this procedure! With the help of the ASPCA Pet Insurance I was able to get the care that Hercules needed and never have to think twice about it. I don’t even want to think about what would have happened had we not had insurance. After all that we went through I have convinced every member of my family to get pet health insurance through the ASPCA. Hercules is doing well today, running and playing, and have a great time like all Jack Russells do! From the bottom of our hearts thank you for everything ASPCA Pet Insurance!!

Transparent & Uncomplicated
Having recently switched from VPI, I was absolutely amazed at how transparent and uncomplicated the claim process was. Sure, the two policies I got for my dogs cost approximately 15% more than their VPI counterprts, but I have already more than made up the difference. For example, Embrace's routine-care (wellness) coverage actually costs just as much as the other insurance company. However, I was actually shocked to have received a 100% reimbursement from Embrace up to the policity limit of $200, when I was used to receiving very, very small portions back from VPI (e.g., $15 for a $65 shots as well as for a $95 exam, $10 for a $60 test, etc.). I used to get about $40 to $50 back from VPI, but I actually received $200 from Embrace! Wow, what a difference, for the same premium. I am definitely happy with Embrace. The ONLY thing, though, is that they might sometimes be a bit disorganized... I have sent in the same paperwork (NYS insurance waiver?) twice already, and they have just asked me to send them another copy because they couldn't locate one. While this has not affected my claims, it doesn't exactly scream, "We are organized!"

claim response
received 80% return back from a huge vet bill.however, because the addisons is now considered preexisting, nothing pertaining to that will be covered. It is just like human health insurance-anything preexisting will not be covered. If I did not have this coverage, I would be in the poor house-I wish I had it a couple years ago.

Difficult to deal with; minimal payout on claims
Hartville consistently found a way to NOT cover expenses we submitted... kind of defeats the purpose of signing up, eh? Almost all expenses were refused saying it was a "pre-existing condition" or the price was too much. For example: Yes, two of the expenses (6 months apart) were both skin conditions, but the first was allergy-related and the second time our dog stuck his nose in a fireant hill. Pretty sure they the ant hill wasn't "pre-existing". We were constantly locked out of our account and the "remember password" functionality doesn't work for us or their support staff. I always dreaded any interaction I had with them. I just canceled the account and I feel as if a weight has been lifted off my shoulders.

dishonest, slow, and misleading claim process
Got this policy from the AKC when I registered my puppy. Never received the actual paperwork outlining the limitations of the policy, but did receive a notice that there was an annual $100 deductible fee. At the end of August, my puppy had to go to the emergency vet because he was vomiting, and the bill was $186 (the vet also cleaned out his ears at the same time). I submitted the bill and the claim form by fax, not once but twice. Three weeks later they returned the form by mail, and I sent it right back by regular mail. Three weeks later, I got a letter saying they were processing the claim, and I would get a check in four weeks. When I called to ask where my check was, they said they had contacted the vet to "investigate" the claim, but that they would pay me $2.00 that had been approved. Subsequently, I called the vet to ask if he had received an inquiry, and he said he had not! I cancelled the policy by e-mail, and I have contacted the AKC. This plan is a rip-off!!!!

Thank Goodness!
I got home from my summer vacation & noticed my furry friend ,Casey, was not himself. Maybeit was because he was upset because my Mom & I were gone for a few days. A couple of days later I noticed blood on the floor near his litter box. Long story short, my Casey had a blockage in his urinary system. Being in healthcare, I know this can be not a good thing in people & deadly in felines. It also can be very costly. I've had ASPCA Health Insurance for a few years on "My Boy" and never really used it. Casey was 4 at the time. He needed surgery to remove the blockage and stay at the Vet's for a couple of days. My Mom (83 yrs old) & I were so devastated at the fact that Casey was going to have to go thru this and potentially not have it work. But it was going to cost about $2000. Needless to say ASPCA covered 80% of all his hospital expenses plus follow up visits. I have the Advantage plan which costs about $30. Oh my goodness what a lifesaver to Mom, myself but most of all our Casey. When I tell people I have Pet Insurance, they at first think I am crazy. Then when I tell them about Casey surgery and all that happened, they think about it. Casey, my 20 lb Main Coon baby, is doing well. He is on a presciption diet to help him with his Urinary Tract. I am so glad I have this insurance and am thinking of adding on Continuing Care when My Friend gets older and may need extra care. Thank you so much ASPCA for making it easier for us animal lovers to take care of the Pets that we love. Also submitting a claim is so easy,

Provides peace of mind!
I considered Pets Best because I adopted an 8 year old cat and they seemed to be one of the best insurance companies for an older cat. My cat is now 11 and has developed a few age related issues. I have been able to do everything my vet has suggested regarding diagnoses, treatment and follow up with out a concern because of the consistancy, timeliness, and efficiency of Pets Best. I know what is covered, I know they will pay 80% and I know it will be processed quickly. No quess work. The final selling point for me came last week. My cat had several vet visits in a very short period of time and I got a bit overwhelmed and did not submit my claim forms as I usually do. Just before the 6 month time limit, I submited all of the paper work for these several claims worried that there might be some problems because they were so old, but all were processed with no problems in the same consistent manner as those claims that were submited immediately. I would definately recommend Pets Best and I would continue to use Pets Best for any future pets I may have. The clarity of the policy, the consistancy of the responses, and the ease of submitting a claim give great peace of mind in knowing the money isn't the driver in making pet health care decisions.

Peace of mind
Hi, I have two cats and one dog who I all adopted from shelters. My dog had a very tough time when he was a puppy and I ended paying thousand of dollars for his medical expense. Then I heard of animal health insurances and checked a few. I knew the name ASPCA through Animal Channel on TV and understood what they do with animals. So, after studying a few insurances, I decided to go with the ASPCA Pet Health Insurance. One of my cats, Gonta, recently had a surgery. I had paid thousands of dollars for my dog in the past without insurance, and it made such a huge difference this time. The response was quick and it gave me such a peace of mind. Thank you!
