Misty Cardiologist Visit
As usual, my experience with Trupanion was perfectly painless and efficient. My gal Misty has been insured with Trupanion since 2-2009, and we have file several claims over the years. All resulting in payment, taking a stressful time in my life have my sweet dog ill with me worrying about her, but not having to worry about her medical bill. Thank you Trupanion for always being there for us!

Not good for long term
I've had this insurance since my dog was 3 months old (he's 7 now). Initially, the monthly rate was good, and as expected, there were minimal increases in the first few years, like $2/month, but then they jumped to $10 more per month, and today I was notified my premium was going up by $20/month making the total monthly cost 225% more than what I initially started. I canceled it. To me, it's not worth it. I could've just saved all that money. Aside from 3 small claims when my dog was under age 2, I have not made any claims in the last 5 years. That kind of increase also tells me what I can expect in the years to follow....monthly increases of $30, $405, etc...it adds up fast. Set aside and save your money, you may not end up needing it.

Lucky I have a very healthy little one. Health insurance for pet's is expensive.
Have had my claims paid very fast and easy to submit. No serious health problems or accident's with my little one so have been happy so far. DPon't have much to review but health insurance for pets is expensive.

Trupanion has really been instrumental…
Trupanion has really been instrumental in helping me afford to care for my pets....which is important since I would do anything for them! The only reason I graded them as 4 stars instead of 5 is due to their policy on dental treatment. It's frustrating that dental care isn't covered if that pet has ANY sign of tarter prior to enrollment since the only way to avoid that is to enroll them as pups....and most rescue pups are adult. This policy has gone back and forth a few times. As someone who brushes the dogs teeth every night and fallows all recommendations from the vet, I appreciated it a lot more when they allowed coverage after a dental prophy restored the pet's dental score to a 0 or 1. Dental procedures can be costly and my vet doesn't believe in risking anesthesia until there is adequate reason, so this will always be an issue for us!
