Excuses that just don't satisfy me
The amount of time that this company makes you wait for a payment is unacceptable. They are quick to take their monthly payment on time, but make a person wait an unacceptable amount of time for reimbursement for a service that was performed. Often times, we end up paying more because we are charged interest by the credit card company because we haven't received payment for covered expenses. In all honesty, I've always had my animals insured, but by Trupanion who I would highly recomment to anyone. I only wish that Pets Best has me now, because of filing a claim, my dog now has a pre-existing illness, that wouldn't be covered by anyone, so thats how they have you stuck, they know that once you have filed a claim your hooked.

A friend when you’re in need!
Dear Trupanion This letter that you are receiving has been in the works for a very long time, but for obvious reasons we have not been able to complete it. We lost our beautiful Yorkshire terrier Logan to lymphoma cancer on September 12th, 2018. We started with Trupanion from the beginning of purchasing Logan. This would have been back on June 1st, 2006. Throughout Logan’s life and as a life long member of Trupanion, he has needed your financial support several times. We are happy that you were with us every step of the way! From covering 90% of the costs on his multiple prescriptions to cure his persistent kennel cough. To the two major hernia surgeries Logan had to have when he was 8 years old. And later his special diet food required, as well as removal of a growth on his lip. Just to mention a few of his health issues. There have been many occasions that you were there for Logan and us, and we will never forget your support. The monthly cost that we paid for this service was well worth every dollar. The cost of his hernia surgeries alone were very expensive and cost in the many thousands of dollars. What was most touching to our family, at the most difficult time in our lives was your very thoughtful and supportive handwritten sympathy card from you Trupanion, and your beautiful and caring staff. It remains on our refrigerator at all times. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ We wish you all a very happy , healthy and prosperous new year 2020 and beyond. 🙏 There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t miss or think at least a hundred times of our dear dear beautiful Logan. I am still crying as I write this letter to you, trying to send it to you and put some closure to all of this. I hope one day I will be able to have another Yorkshire terrier. He was the heart of our home🏡. Logan loved to play in the river near our home. He really loved water play. And adored playing with the water coming out of the the hose in the backyard Logan was very photogenic and enjoyed posing for his photos. We Love Logan 🐶🐾 Thank you Trupanion!!!

Called customer service 1/15/20
Called customer service 1/15/20, asked to be transfered to a legal department. A girl said NO (no explanation, just NO), I said that I changed my mind and won't buy policy because she refuse to transfer my call. She HANGED up on me. Lovely.

ASPCA is WONDERFUL - caring, compassionate, and always available!
I am so grateful to Shelly and everyone at ASPCA for their support and how easy and straightforward they made the claim submission process. When my dog got sick, I quickly and easily sent in the invoice for his treatment through the ASPCA app, and they provided me with updates through the app about the claim's review, processing, and fulfillment. After receiving the reimbursement checks, Shelly called to check in on my dog, and everyone was so wonderful and compassionate throughout the entire process.

The best decision we have made for our furry family member was signing up with Trupanion!
When our 4yr old mixed breed dog started limping we certainly could not have imagined he would require major surgery immediately. Had it not been for Trupanion we would have had an incredibly difficult time managing his medical procedures. Trupanion immediately pre authorized all required treatment and made a incredibly difficult situation very manageable. The best decision we have made for our furry family member is signing up with Trupanion, and we absolutely recommend them to anyone considering pet insurance they are far and above the best! Excellent caring representatives
The adjusters worked tirelessly to overturn a pre existing condition that was not really a condition at all. They reviewed all the vet’s info and letters and agreed that Hannah’s problem was not ever a medical or behavioral problem. Then they overturned the pre existing on her record. The adjusters were fair and worked hard, with kindness and good cheer. I recommend this company to all pet parents. I feel secure in the knowledge that if there is ever is a claim to be made, it will be handled with the same care. Awesome representatives and adjusters.

If I could give two separate ratings for service & reimbursement time
I gave Pets Best a 4 star because with my two dogs and the number of serious surgeries and issues theyve had over the years, Pets Best has definitely helped. For me, everything I expected to be covered was and what was not I knew because it was in the contract given to me. The processing of claims on the other hand, it used to be extremely fast, within 3-5 days, then somewhere in the fall of 2019 it went to 25 days, then 30 days. Now as Jan 2020, I have three claims pending, two submitted today with a 30-40 day waiting period, and one back on dec 18 that hasnt processed yet. Not sure if there is a manpower shortage but it definitely is putting doubt in my mind and I'm starting to consider whether i should try another company. I really do hope they rectify this issue.

Kind, caring, compassionate!
Unfortunately, I have had some fur babies who experienced medical issues. Fortunately, we have Healthy Paws insurance! This company has been kind, caring, compassionate, and responsive to our needs. The claims process is very easy and streamlined. When one of our pups needed surgery, the claim was paid that day! I highly recommend Healthy Paws!

Fair but Finicky
Have been using Pets Best for about 9 years and have looked at other insurances. For the price Pets Best is reasonable and their policies are easy to understand. Warning: As the animal ages, the price will increase (but so will the likelihood of your pet needing expensive procedures and medication). Before entering a claim, be sure that all of information on the bill is correct; because the claim will be denied for any discrepancies. If it is denied, call customer service and find out why specifically the claim was denied and be sure that you it fix the discrepancy promptly. They are a little slow reviewing and paying out claims but I don't know if that would be any different with another insurance company.
