Smooth reliable process
We have had insurance since we brought our puppy home, and we are so thankful. Within the first year, we’ve had to make several visits to our vets office. The process of submitting our claims goes smoothly. ASPCA receives it right away and let’s us know. Then once they are finished, we receive another email confirming our reimbursement, which is delivered in the mail shortly afterward.

Recommendation to Other Pet Owners
My family and I are pet lovers and we want to provide the best care for them. I shopped around to compare all the difference pet insurances out there for our dogs and they are all not created equal. We reviewed the different plans that were offered and selected the one that was best for us. We choose the one that included preventive services and it pays for itself and our dogs are healthy. My employer partners with Nationwide and makes it so easier to enroll through payroll deduction. Nationwide's Customer Service is outstanding after the sale.

Great company!
Great company to work with, they seem to really care about our pets and always follow up to make sure my dog is ok if she has had a procedure. I also received a sympathy card from the company when I lost my previous pet.....you don't find many companies that care for their customers the way Healthy Paws does......I am extremely satisfied with their service!

I am very happy with Nation Wide and feel at ease that Gia is well covered.
My experience with Nationwide Pet I surance has been a positive one. Great coverage, helpful customer service and easy claim filing are all pluses. Getting insurance for my baby girl is one of the best things I did to help protect her.

Lovely marketing photos / no coverage even for basic procedures
Last year I adopted a 1.5 year old cat from my neighborhood humane society.. I am luckily able to budget to pay for pet care out of pocket but thought it would be nice to use insurance to help plan for big expenses so I signed up my little guy with Trupanion. When I signed up for Trupanion I was impressed by their marketing (90% of all expenses after a modest deductible, nice ) Even though the monthly premium of $55 was a bit steep I figured you get what you pay for and decided to try it. Unfortunately after a recent tooth cleaning and extraction I received a claim response of "denied" -- the reason listed was due to a pre-existing condition of gengivitis. I would have forgiven this conclusion if it were just the extraction part that was non-covered but in fact the entire bill including common cleaning was denied which I have to declare is nonsense. In short, this company seemed to be all too happy to take my claim money for several months and then deny any coverage as soon as I tried to use it. After I chatted with one of their online support folks to request cancellation they sent me a "but wait" form letter stating "I’m sorry to hear you‘re cancelling your medical insurance due to the outcome of your claim ... but perhaps you would like to maintain a safety net for new conditions that may come up later down the road.." I'm pretty sure they send this letter often. No thanks -- too late. I'm wondering if some of the reviewers have had positive experiences with other companies. Good luck!

Ask less questions.
The response was much faster than earlier. Too many unneccessary required fields in the review.

Have had issues with claim reimbursement.
Everything sounded great when I was initially signing up. I was completely honest about my dog’s health. The first claim I submitted was somehow lost Or dropped on Nationwide’s end and I had to advocate for myself to get the payment. I have now been denied payment of a claim with the explanation “pre-existing condition”, which is not true. I am frustrated that I have to take the time and effort to advocate for myself and my dog again. My confidence in Nationwide is shaken now and I may reconsider my options for coverage. I heard good things about Nationwide, but my personal experience has left me feeling otherwise, which is really disappointing. I was quick to recommend Nationwide to others in the beginning based on the the cost, but I would mention Nationwide with caution at this point.

Compassionate and Caring
I have yet to have to file a claim through healthy paws, however I am so grateful for them. On September 26th, I had to say goodbye to my best friend, Rudy. Nothing could save him, and I had to spare his pain. I called the company the next day to remove him from my policy and the customer service rep was very sympathetic and caring. They even went so far as to send me a hand-written sympathy card. While no one knew how much Rudy meant to me, they still took the time to reach out to me and that means a lot.
