Petsbest is a scam, try their best to deny a claim basing on "preexisting condition" even when provided evidence by vet

We are a first time pet owner and adopted our cat Zelda from a rescue. She had no medical issues or concerns upon our adoption. After 6-7 months of ownership, we took Zelda to the vet for a regular checkup. While at the vet we asked the vet regarding cats vomiting habits the vet informed us about hairballs and frequency of vomiting on an average cat. We also asked her about what cat food she would recommend (the foster parent had given us the remaining food when we adopting her purina kitten food) . This questioning was written on her medical records. we purchased pets best insurance after the regular checkup but prior to changing her food. We introduced the new cat food to zelda and soon after zelda began vomiting much more frequently, we took her to the vet and the vet stated that zelda probably has a food sensitivity to the new food and recommended a different cat food (this was noted on her records as well). We introduced the new food and her condition got worst and in addition to the vomiting she was lethargic, developed diarrhea and she lost weight. The vet suggested an ultrasound (august 4th) with results showing no issues. she again suggested a different food, this new food has worked so far and zelda hasnt had the issues that she experience with the other two foods. During this entire time we filed each of the pet bills with petsbest and they issued credit for all of them except for the ultrasound which was close to $400 they denied the claim citing " preexisting condition", after speaking with them they stated that there was a record prior to us purchasing insurance that mentioned "vomiting" and as a result they are denying the claim. We appealed the claim and had the vet provide a detailed letter stating the reason for the "vomiting" being mentioned in a prior record. After 2 months of waiting we just got a letter denying the appeal. We felt cheated! they based their entire denial on a record that had nothing to do with any medical condition. The ultrasound was merely a diagnostic test and it was clear that Zelda's "condition" was a result of a change in food and not a serious medical condition, the Vet agreed with that, the ultrasound proved it and most importantly the medical records clearly spoke for itself considering the change in her condition as a direct result of the change in her food. We cancelled our policy immediately with petsbest after the denial of our appeal. We have spoken to a several other insurance companies since and here is what we found. 1. it is best to purchase the pet insurance IMMEDIATELY after obtaining the pet, as long as no medical records exists for the said pet the insurance company will have 0 basis to point towards an existing condition. 2. If the above is not possible best to go with an insurance company that requires an examination prior to issuing the policy ( Healthy Paws Pet Insurance, Embrace, Pet Plan, Nationwide, Figo, Trupanion) as long as your pet is healthy and any preexisting conditions is mentioned on the report then the insurance company will base their decisions from that report. 3. If your still considering petsbest please note of the lengthy claim/appeal process (over 1-4 months, we filed our report on August 5th for the ultrasound, was denied on sept 17th and our appeal was not answered until December 14th), If we knew of this from the get go we would have immediately gone with another company.

I absolutely love the coverage I get from Healthy Paws.

I’ve been with Healthy Paws pet insurance for many years, covering six dogs during that time. I have had to file major claims on three occasions for two different dogs, and each time the claim process was straight forward and efficient. Not only did Healthy Paws reimburse me for my claims, but always followed up personally to see how my dogs were doing. The people at Healthy Paws are just very nice and caring. I can’t imagine a better pet insurance.

After 4 years, this company could care less about their clients.

This company does not reward loyalty of customers. I was a customer for four years, and my card expired while I had Covid, and they completely canceled my account. When I reached out to their customer support team, and also called actually on the day that my account was supposed to be canceled, I was assured by the person on the phone that they would reinstate my account, but they didn’t. Took two weeks to respond to me via email, and when they did said there was "nothing they could do". The company does not reward loyalty of customers or even have any compassion due to those who are in the full swing of the pandemic. I would highly recommend a competitor.

Healthy Paws was my BEST investment!

I am a dog mom. I take this job as seriously as being a daughter, sister, aunt, etc. My 2 year and 9 month old Cockapoo is the most important thing in my life (along with the rest of my family). I’ve had dogs my whole life but when getting Ziggy, I did my research to find the best pet insurance available. I searched as thoroughly as I would do for myself, my parents and loved ones. I landed on Healthy Paws and could not be happier with my decision. When I took Ziggy home, I would never be able to predict anything so scary would happen. She’s happy, healthy, goes to her regular vet appointments and has a very active lifestyle. She has never been left alone for more than one hour; she goes everywhere with me except places she’s not allowed or places she’s been and doesn’t like. She’s the boss! The night of December 5, 2020 into the early morning hours of December 6, 2020 was the scariest moments to date being a dog mom. Ziggy began vomiting and pooping dark, deep, heavy blood. I brought her into the animal hospital where she was admitted into ICU and stayed for 2 days. Her vet continued to treat her on an outpatient basis the rest of the week to get Ziggy to the point of stable. Not once did I think about money, if I need to move with my parents to pay for her care, that’s what would happen. I am willing to do anything for my baby, including donating my limb if it helped her. I was in total panic for a week, maxed out all my credit and debit cards. The hospital and vet saved Ziggy and Healthy Paws saved me! Not only did they take my claim and process it so quickly, I had about 50% of all my unforeseen expenses back into my debit account. Not to mention, I got a follow up email asking how Ziggy was feeling and that Healthy Paws was sending her a hug! Health Insurance Companies for people usually are the ones to deny claims and make life difficult and Healthy Paws was no nonsense! If you get a fur baby, Healthy Paws is the BEST investment. Ziggy is stable and doing better and I am so grateful to know in an emergency, Healthy Paws has both our backs!

Easy, Lightning Fast, and Compassionate Reimbursement from Healthy Paws!

Incredible experience! They processed my claim in TWO DAYS and were so caring and compassionate in their communication. Submitting a claim was as easy as uploading two medical records. It took less than five minutes. Details: My beagle mix was attacked during a walk by an unleashed dog. It was horrific, his back leg got mauled, he lost a tooth in the scrap, and the bill came out to just under $2000. I submitted my claim, and within TWO DAYS, Healthy Paws had reviewed my claim and informed me that a check for 80% (minus the $250 yearly deductible) was on its way. I almost cried, the dog attack was so awful and the claim process was so easy. I just uploaded the vet invoice, and the medical info sheet, and while this was not necessary, I included pictures of the wounds. The site was very easy to use and I had no problems uploading the attachments. A week later, I received a message from a representative asking how my beagle-mix was doing. My check arrived very quickly. I recommend this company to everyone!
