Healthy Paws saved my puppy
I signed up for Healthy Paws when I brought my labrador puppy home from the breeder. I bought pet insurance because, a few months earlier, my niece had purchased a mini australian shepherd puppy who got very sick and nearly died. Their pet insurance helped them get the proper care for their sick puppy. I signed up for Healthy Paws and I am so glad I did. When my puppy was 7 months old we discovered a growth on her gums. It ended up being Oral Squamous Cell Carcinoma, a rare cancer for puppies. She required major surgery to remove the mass, a few teeth and part of her jaw. The surgery was very expensive. I submitted the veterinarian expense forms to Healthy Paws and within days they approved and reimbursed me for most of the cost. The Healthy Paws team even reached out to check up on my puppy. I am so grateful for Healthy Paws. Hopefully all of the cancer was removed and thanks to the Sage Center Veterinarians and Healthy Paws my puppy will live a full normal life. So glad I switched to Pets Bets!
I had been a customer of another pet insurance company for over 7 years, and I had been happy with that company until they significantly increased the premiums (almost doubling). At that point I decided to shop around, thoroughly read reviews, and decide on a new insurance company. I went with Pets Best because of the positive reviews from existing customers, and a very competitive premium. I liked the ability to set your deductible and copay amounts and see how the premiums change accordingly. I really liked the multi-pet discount. They even offer supplemental coverages like routine care (flea and tick prevention, heartworm tests, etc.), which I didn’t happen to enroll in but I might consider in the future. Now, I understood that the average claims processing time was a little higher than what I’d been used to from my previous insurance company, but that didn’t bother me much and was an easy trade-off for the premium and service. And I have to say, Pets Best has far exceeded my expectation for claims handling time after all. The explanation of benefits documents are easy to understand.

Very pleased with the response
While spending a month in California on vacation my dog got very ill and required three days hospitalization. The bill came to $5800 and Healthy Paws reimbursed me $4021. I had a $500 deductible. The claim was processed within two weeks enabling me to pay the charge to my credit card before it was due. I am pleased with the result.

Arbitrary rate increases
Started off on a positive note. Filed one claim and claim was payed following a leg surgery. No problem. Moved to NC and rates were increased Twice within 3 months with no further claims submitted. Customer Service and explanations are poor. Extremely frustrating!

Unexpected Surgery
Our 4 year old dog required surgery for bladder stones, after a trip to the doggy ER for a urinary tract infection. Healthy Paws customer service representatives worked with us every step of the way and processed our claims quickly and efficiently. The money was deposited into our account within 2-3 days. We cannot say enough good things about Healthy Paws, and we highly recommend them for all your pet needs.

Phenomenal customer service
Our dog required emergency care for a urinary tract infection. Then we discovered she had bladder stones which required surgical intervention and several follow up visits. Healthy Paws customer service representatives were genuinely concerned for her well being and walked us through the entire claims process. They processed our claims quickly and the money was directly deposited into our bank account within 2-3 days.
