Healthy Paws was there for us!
I've had dogs all my life, and this is the first time I've purchased pet insurance. As a volunteer for a dog rescue, I had the opportunity to poll my colleagues about the pros/cons of insurance, as well as which companies they'd recommend, if any. They informed me about a number of companies, and Healthy Paws' reviews definitely came out above the rest. Ellie Dee ended up at the emergency vet (on a Sunday!) for two days and nights one month ago. I contacted Healthy Paws, and they kept in contact, answering my questions, etc., as needed. The process and paperwork for my claim were very clear. Healthy Paws staff sent me a number of emails to check on Ellie Dee even after she'd been home for a few weeks! I was very pleased with the quick arrival of my refund check from Healthy Paws. There were no surprises during this process; I highly recommend this group!

This company is terrible
This company is either completely incompetent or a scam. I signed up four months ago. Paid all of my premiums. Submitted two claims for a total of about $150. After I submitted, they wanted complete medical records, which I provided and uploaded. Then I got another email asking for complete medical records, which I again provided. Then I got another email for a third time asking for complete medical records. This email threatened to decline my claims if I didn't (again) submit the medical records. I called the customer service number. Spoke to a woman who told me the claims examiners were looking for proof of a physical examination on 12/24/20. She looked at the medical records I had uploaded and indicated that she found reference to the examination on the one record and that she would submit everything for processing. A day later I got a fourth email asking me to submit complete medical records. Before I could even respond, the company sent another email saying that the claims were denied because I didn't upload medical records and the claims expired. Called them back, was put on hold for a manger for 25 minutes. Hung up and filed a dispute with my credit card company for the premiums I had paid. This company sucks. Go elsewhere. Not worth the aggravation.

You and your pet need Trupanion
I cannot imagine anything being any easier than working with Trupanion. The peace of mind has been there since day one. I never imagined I would have to use the plan until my pup was in his geriatric years. He isn't even two yet and to need emergency back surgery was an awful experience for us all. Knowing I had Trupanion to help cover the costs was such a huge relief. I never imagined filing a claim would be so easy and painless. I submitted the required information on April 15th in the evening. On April 22nd, they deposited the funds into my checking account. Nothing, absolutely nothing is easier or faster. I never expected it to be so pain free or so fast. I am grateful that I did the research and even more grateful that I chose Trupanion.

healthy paws saved my bank account in a really stressful situation
A few close friends got together to celebrate one of our birthdays. What was a delightful and casual little get together became my worst nightmare when a balloon popped and startled my new affenpinscher pup. She jumped off my lap and broke her arm. I scooped her up as quickly as I could and rushed to the emergency vet. My poor girl was in so much pain and I was so disappointed in myself that I could let something like this happen to her. Luckily the emergency vet we took her to is AMAZING and super compassionate which eased my stress, but they can't waive a 6k bill when your puppy breaks two bones and needs surgery to insert a plate and screws into her tiny arm. I put it on my credit card and started to panic thinking I didn't "do my pet insurance right"... Are there prerequisites that I didn't meet? Will this not be covered? I submitted my claim through their website via the claims portal. I received some emails that I needed to provide medical records. I provided everything I had, but they asked for more. I started to panic more that this expensive event wouldn't be covered, but after submitting everything I had, I emailed and said that she was a puppy and had only been to the vet a few times. I received a nice email back saying she would let the claims department know. After that, I received an email that my claim was being processed and a few days later I had $4000 in my bank account. I couldn't believe it, but they covered every single thing they said they would. Honestly I wish my health insurance was this clear and easy. I have recommended healthy paws to everyone I know with a pet. I am incredibly happy that they were there for me in a really stressful time.

The fast turnaround for claims isn't…
The fast turnaround for claims isn't fast at all. Covid is basically over. Get more people to work or back to work. 2 weeks for a claim is not fast turnaround. Thank you

Once again Trupanion was there for us…
Once again Trupanion was there for us when our baby boy needed urgent surgery. They are an awesome company! They have made it possible for us to save his life several times now. No guilt because we can do what is medically necessary without hesitation. I would never consider having a pet without them in our corner! Thank you Trupanion for helping us when we needed you!

20% rate increase despite no claims
Trupanion increased my rates by >20% after my first year of coverage despite the fact that I never made a claim nor missed a payment. I called to question the increase and they suggested I look elsewhere for coverage if it was too much. So, after just one year, I have to begin researching and comparing coverage AGAIN. And with another year of age, my dog will only be harder to find reasonable coverage for. And Trupanion can only say: "Take it or leave it." I understand small yearly increases, but 20% is absurd, especially after the first year. Am I to expect 20% next year and the following years as well? I'll be paying double within 3 years even if I make no claims. Don't trust that your "competitive" rate will stay anywhere near competitive after the first year. Expect to begin looking for a new insurer all over again.

Trupanion Is Excellent Pet Insurance
Trupanion provided payment for the surgical procedures my dog needed. They had been recommended to me by family but my experience with pet insurers was that my coverage never included any of the problems my pet had. Trupanion came through when my dog was unexpectedly injured.
