Easy to work with but rates get quite extreme as your pet ages!

Very efficient claim process but was shocked when my annual policy went from around $1000 to $1800 the next year! Seemed liked an unreasonable percentage of increase.

I recommend pet insurance to everyone I know

I have had pet insurance since before it was cool. 15 plus years I believe. Nationwide used to be called VPI. I appreciate having the ability to tell the vet to "go ahead and do that test, she has insurance so I don't worry about cost". It's good to know I can treat my pets with the best available medicine. We have had root canals, eye problems, surgeries, one time incidents or accidents all paid no problem with our nationwide plan. I tell everyone who wants to listen that their dogs should have health insurance. We had a significant rate hike on our older dogs policy this year and almost canceled it, but I'm glad we did not because it has almost paid for itself with her eye problems this year. I love the Vitus Vet app and ease of submitting claims on the go. Reta collab there!

The worst!

I have had pet insurance for years with another company and because of their reviews I changed. What a mistake!! I had a Doberman that was diagnosed with kidney failure. It took forever to get his er visit paid. They want all kinds of notes that vet's don't do. As my vet said I'm done I'm out of the insurance business. I supplied them with by bill, codes and the notes that were available on the file. It's been a month and I still have not been paid on my puppies death. I always upload all forms and add notes to make it simple. I have spent hours on the phone with customer serve and they are nice but NOTHING gets done. Horrible! I cancelled my other dogs and went back to my old company that this would have been paid in 3-5 days .

Thanks for fast clains processing

Over the past year, Nationwide as significantly improved it's claim submission and processing process. I used to dread filing claims for Hawk, our now seven year old golden retriever National Amateur Field Champion and family member. I was really surprised to find that submission process had been significantly upgraded, and that the turn around time for processing and paying claims shortened. Given that Hawk required ongoing monitoring and treatment for Ehrlichia, the expedited processing and payment process is greatly appreciated.
