Dont do it
Trupanion let me and my pup down. A vet recommended dental surgery was turned down because (wait for it) they didnt like the way the invoice from my licensed vet was printed. I just cancelled. For $1,700 I expected to get SOMETHING back. Even a small amount.

THE BEST DECISION I COULD HAVE MADE!
In August 2017, we welcomed Lola, our little black Bichon Poodle to our home. Having owned previous pets and understanding the increasing prices of Veterinary services, I made a decision to purchase pet insurance. After extensive research and comparisons, I selected Healthy Paws Pet Insurance. Several months later we welcomed Teddy, Lola's baby brother, a white Bichon Poodle to our home and added him to our Healthy Paws Policy. While I am always a careful shopper, little did I know that I had made one of my best decisions ever. As time passed, both Lola and Teddy experienced visits to our Veterinarian. I was able to submit my Claims easily on line and received prompt reimbursement. To be honest, this service is exactly what I expected from any reputable business. However, other things that i experienced from the Healthy Paws Staff is like nothing I have ever experienced before. Teddy tore his ACL in his right hind leg, and needed surgery in October 2020. As often occurs he need ACL surgery on his left leg in April 2021. As always my claims were processed timely within only 2 days, which was excellent. But that is not the best part. I received e-mails from several Healthy Paws Staffers wishing Teddy well before his surgeries and then following up with hugs, kisses and well wishes for speedy recoveries following each surgery. This personal, kind, thoughtful services is like nothing I have ever experienced before. They made Teddy, Lola and me feel like we were the most important people and doggies in the world. I'm sure you can realize how traumatic it is when your little furry ones are sick and even require surgery. Healthy Paws Staffers are not only efficient representatives, they are FAMILY!! They could not have treated us better! They are amazing! I am so grateful that I selected this company and give them the highest recommendation possible. As I said: THIS IS THE BEST DECISION I COULD HAVE MADE!!

Should be named Pets Worst
Terrible Terrible Terrible Customer Service. It's impossible to get in contact with them. This Pet Insurance like many will take your money and not help you! I had Pets Best for close to a year, submitted one claim, and was denied, and never communicated when it was or why. I had to call back myself many times to get an answer. Their entire business model is set up around it being difficult for you to get ahold of them and submit claims. Their user experience is so bad on purpose they want you to give up and forget about claims. My dog had some neuro issues with his back legs. The vet wanted to do an MRI to rule out a genetic disease, which they tested for but were waiting for the results back. He was in pain so they wanted to do the MRI as soon as possible. Pets Best took weeks to even get a pre-authorization form in for the MRI. I couldn't wait any longer and got the MRI myself which was expensive. The results came back and all he had was a virus you can get from local lakes, and all he needed was some antibiotics. I called Pet's best back to get let them know I didn't need the Pre Authorization anymore. They had already closed it deeming it Pre Existing and they wouldn't cover. Once I mentioned to them it wasn't that it was a virus they said I would need to resend all the claims again but it won't be covered anyways because that can also be considered pre-existing with a boxer breed. WHAT?! If the Pre-Authorization for the MRI had been covered I could have had this paid for and handled right away. As it was deemed not a genetic disease rather a common virus in puddle/lake water. Instead, Pets Best did not help me in a time of crisis, as an insurance company should! Please do not give them your time or money. They need to re-brand to Pets Worst! Here are my experiences and reasons to not go with this insurance: - They give you quite the runaround to submit claims. They never tell you if you are missing anything or need something else. You need to call back yourself to find out the status. - The wait time on the phone is crazzzzy! Each time I called I was on hold for 1hr plus. One time equalling 2.5 hr phone call. What!! My dog was in a bit of an emergency or I would never wait that long. - They will claim almost anything a "Pre-existing condition" - They will not pre-authorize in a time of crisis if you need it. The runaround for this is insane and expect to send in tons and tons of documents with no response or updates. - Once you get ahold of a real person they are not able to answer your questions. There is a disconnect between them and the people actually approving claims. They seem to be just a phone answering service. Hope this helps the next person considering them. Definitely do not! Find a good insurance that actually cares for your pet's needs, they are hard to find, but this one does not no matter how much their marketing team claims they do! PETS WORST

Best Pet Insurance Available Anywhere. Period.
We are so grateful to have Healthy Paws Pet insurance and recommend it to every pet owner we meet. Our Standard poodle went in for her annual exam with a neurologist after having two seizures within 8 days. Due to Covid-19 she was overdue. For the first time in 6 years her physical exam was not 100% and the vet thought she might have experienced a stroke. She suggested an MRI and the bill for the day at the animal hospital was $2,875. We are so grateful for Healthy Paws. With our plan 90% was covered. It’s wonderful that because we have pet insurance we can afford to provide excellent veterinary care for our dog and not stress about the cost. We wish we had known about Healthy Paws for our previous Standard poodle who was treated for cancer (lymphoma) and died young at 8 years 8 months. When she was two years old she accidentally broke her leg which was under the couch and she was startled getting up. In 2003 the emergency visit to the animal hospital bill was over $4,000. With Healthy Paws her accident would have been covered by a plan. We highly recommend Healthy Paws! Don’t wait. Sign up your beloved pet today.
