Old dog with lots of issues
My dog has had his fair share of issues. Over past 5 years or so he has had neck surgery, and TPLO surgery on both knees. Now he's is dealing with typical aging issues. Through it all pets best has been great in meeting their commitments. They were also great to deal with for my other dog whom passed away in late 2024. Would highly recommend for peace of mind.
Pets Best - Best Insurance
Pets Best was very economical for us to when another company raised our rate quite a bit at renewal. And when our beagle had a very serious health issue and was hospitalized back and forth for almost 2 weeks but did not survive, Pets Best was seriously the best. The reimbursement process was simple and timely. If I had to choose again, I would choose Pets Best.

Ease of claims
Pets Best has been great for the claims I’ve had with my dog Simba. He has allergies that affect his eyes and when I take him to the veterinarian and then submit my claims. They are easy to submit and I get paid back rather quickly.
First claim
"I submitted my first claim and heard back from Pet's Best almost immediately. It was so easy to file online. I already received a check ( I'll sign up for direct deposit now) and it reimbursed me for almost the whole amount of my vet's visit. What it did not cover it explained why which I already knew from reading my policy. "

Pets Best Was There When Maverick Needed Them Most
My Pomsky, Maverick, has had several unexpected health issues over the years, including a serious urinary tract infection that required emergency veterinary care, diagnostic testing, medications, and follow-up treatment. More recently, he has been dealing with recurring urinary issues and bladder stones that have required multiple veterinary visits, imaging, and ongoing monitoring. Throughout these experiences, Pets Best has been the best pet insurance company I have ever worked with. Submitting claims has been simple, and the reimbursement process has been straightforward and reliable. Having insurance through Pets Best has helped ease the financial stress that comes with unexpected veterinary expenses, allowing me to focus on Maverick's health instead of worrying about how I would pay for his care. Negative Score
If I could give Trupanion a negative score I would. I can’t fathom that anything they do is out of the goodness of their hearts. They have always been trying to pay little to nothing where possible despite physical changes to my dog’s body as it is growing up. The premiums they charge are outrageous and seem to target dogs that have been ill. They can say this isn’t true but the fact is that the premiums are jumping significantly. If this is the rate increase for all animals shame on you Trupanion. The agents that work for Trupanion have been rude and mean to myself as well as my vet clinic. I can’t believe that they are animal owners. They don’t seem to have one nice bone in their body. Heed this warning- Trupanion will market themselves via email and all other forms of social media as the good guy. They are greedy capitalists preying on animal lovers. Do what’s best for you because they don’t actually care.
