Just Saved Lots of $$

I just enrolled today and have not yet submitted a claim. What I can tell you so far is that my previous coverage with another insurer cost $40 more per month, had a lifetime maximum of about $5,000 (my kitten is barely 2 years old), a $100 deductible, 90% coinsurance and their claims payment practices were atrocious. To get reimbursement for a simple claim, I had to send her medical history in 7 times, my vet sent same history in 4 times and the claim has still not been paid after 4 months of phone calls and emails. Trupanion is not only cheaper but the coverage is better: nil deductible, same coinsurance, but no lifetime maximum. I'd give you a 10 but you don't have microchip tracking.

Peace of Mind when it counts!

About 7 months ago, after reading an article about Pet Insurance, I researched different companies and plans, and took out a pet insurance plan with Trupanion. It proved to be the best decision ever! My seven-year-old rat terrier was suddenly unable to urinate and he started to swell "down there." He was in a lot of pain! I rushed him to the ER and he was admitted immediately. Despite diagnostic tests and treatments, no cause could be identified, and he rapidly got worse. He was transferred to another facility within 24 hours...still no answers.. as he continued to deteriorate. The bills were racking up quickly, but I knew that I could make decisions for his care based on what was best for him, not as a function of finances. I was close to putting him down after a couple of days, when the vets gave little hope, but we decided to give it one more day to see if the antibiotics would kick in...and they did!! And then slowly, day by day, he started to recover! After a full week in the hospital -- and thousands of dollars later -- my pup came home. During his convalescence I had time to sift through the mounds of different bills I'd accumulated and start submitting claims to Trupanion. The customer support on the phone was very helpful, and the claims process was simple. Once claims were submitted, they were reviewed and approved within a days of receipt. I was emailed when the claim was received, if there were any questions, and notified when the claim was pai

Tops in Customer Service

I am a new Trupanion client, but I loved that they contacted my vet themselves when I signed up, so I didn't have to mess with the paperwork. Trupanion's coverage levels are also much higher than other pet insurances. All pet owners hope they never need it, but it's nice to know I'm covered for just about anything that happens.

TRUPANION IS AWSOME!!

Our 7 month old dachsund ate an object and after being x-rayed the vet said he would absolutly do surgery if it was his dog!He also said"This is why you Thank God you have insurance"and it was .The surgery went well and the bill was right around $2000.which Trupanion covered 90%.I would also recommend a lower deductable!Mine was only $50 and that was also helpful.Highly recommend Trupanion!!!!!!!!!

Coverage so I can do the right thing.

Last winter I had to put down my beloved Mocha because she had cancer that wasn't detected until it was too late. I had decided not to investigate why she was losing weight because I could not afford to-- I have a disability and live on a fixed income. She suffered silently for weeks before I even took her to the vet. When I adopted my new dog, Leo, I vowed never to be in a situation where I couldn't aford tests. I investigated pet insurance options, Trupanion had a monthly premium and deductable combination that I could afford, and it had the most coverage--90% of actual costs. I also liked that the premiums would not go up for submitting claims or as he got older. Three months after I adopted Leo, he got a potentially cancerous growth on his paw, but this time I could tell my vet to surgically remove and biopsy it. The customer service at Trupanion was excellent. The representatives on the live chat were able to tell me that the fax of Leo's records had not been received, and I had time to have the vet resend the records the same day [the vet had misdialed.] They then called me to let me know the fax had just come through. Two days later the claims adjuster called to explain which expenses could becounted toward the claim so that I would understand why the amount I was awarded was a little diferent than what I requested. Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
