Excellent Insurance

I really love this insurance and have advised my vet's office multiple times to spread the word. I have an English Bulldog which is prone to breed specific illnesses and this is the only insurance I could find to cover him. I get 90% of the money back for all covered things and it is very hassle free. The fact that I can fax my claim and have the money within a week is another thing I am great full for. The only thing I'd like is if the actual vet exam was covered if the exam is for an illness or something other than a typical visit.

Great Experience

I was skeptical about getting pet insurance at first because I thought "what could ever go wrong?" Well let me tell you that anything and everything can go wrong. I searched the various pet insurance companies and I settled for Trupanion for several reasons. The first was that they would cover 90% of illnesses and accidents, the second being that there wasn't a yearly limit, and the third was the price. Even though the price was comparable, and in some cases lower, to other insurance companies that wasn't what brought me to Trupanion, it was #1 and #2. Now back to why I have had a great experience. My 1 year old female yellow lab came down with diarrhea that lasted for over a week. As other pet owners can attest to, diarrhea for that long can be deadly. I brought my girl to the vet for the initial examination and they ended up taking x-rays, prescribed medication and put her on some gentle food. That didn't totally work so I had to bring her back a second time again for another round of x-rays and different medication. After 8 or so days the diarrhea subsided and my girl was back to full health. As you can imagine the vet bill was costly but worth every dollar spend. I paid both bills in full but it sure was nice to have Trupanion on my side. They indeed paid 90% of the bill associated with the vet visits and didn't nickel and dime me to the point where they didn't pay anything. In fact they paid a great portion of the bill. Watch out for fee hikes in 2nd year

I have never had pet insurance before. So when I got my next dog I decided to get pet insurance. I had Trupanion insurance for 2 years with no claims. The price jumped from $37 to $65/month for a 3 year old mixed dog.I cannot tell you how the handle claims since I never had one.The rate adjustment is due to technological advancement not the age of the dog they assured me. So watch out for the price increase in 2nd year. I am not happy and will be looking elsewhere.

Excellent response

OUr 10 year golden was diagnosed with a torn ACL. We submitted our claims and immediately recievedconfirmation that theyhad been received and were being processed. Within two weeks we received our checks. We alos recieved courteous phone calls from Trupanion to let us know that our cliams were being processed and the checks were on thier way. The service was suberb. Having insurance gave us the confidence to select the best care for our golden. She is now a puppy again walking on four legs within five weeks. Thank you trupanion,

74% Premium Increase

After only 1 year and a very small claim my insurance premium has increased 74%!!!! 2 months of paying this increase and they recover the cost of my entire claim. This is ridiculous!

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
