Trupanion, man's other best friend!!!

We have a 16 month old Australian Sheperd named Abbey. I was told about Trupanion Pet insurance by our vet when she was 8 weeks old. I reluctantly purchased Trupanion thinking they would be like every other insurance company, quick to take your payments but slow to pay a claim. Was I wrong!Abbey developed a horrific stomach infection that needed emergency surgery. The bill was $6300. Trupanion quickly sent us our reimbursement, minus the normal deductibles. I am so impressed by Trupanion, a company that stands by its word.

The best service EVER!

I cannot emphasize how wonderful the entire staff at Trupanion has been. There customer service has been excellent and are always very quick to get my claims resolved. They are very straightforward with the policy and have gone above and beyond to answer my questions in complete detail. I recommend them to all of my friends!

Highway Robbery

After being a PURE PROFIT customer with them for over a year (not a single claim) they decided to raise my rates about 50%.What business on the planet in the middle of a recession drives away paying 'pure profit' customers with 50% price increases? Unless one of my dogs had a catastrophic illness or injury I would have never put in a claim -- I may not ever have to file a claim, with my deductible all normal vet bills would have been paid by me anyway. This company is run by morons.

claims: paid as per terms

Lyra is the newest member of my family and adopting her was a no brained. However, being close to retirement, I was concerned about vet bills for her later years on a fixed income so I set about to try to find decent insurance and compared all that I could online. I settled on Trupanion partly due to the straightforward, easy to understand terms and partly due to the 90% coverage with choice of deductable. I never expected to have claims so soon, but Trupanion handled the claims in a professional and timely manner while keeping me in the loop at all times. The expected amount arrived within 2 weeks and I'm very pleased with the company so far. So much so that I'm now considering adopting another cat so she can have someone to grow up with. Sadly, I don't expect either my 21, 17, or 15 year old to be around for very long after I retire...

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
