We are ecstatic with Trupanion's coverage for our 7 month puppy. He had an emergency admission for a stomach ailment. I submitted the proper paperwork and was notified promptly that the claim was under review. Once approved, the check arrived in two days. I wish we had this for our first dog. While shocked by the hospital bill, I was so relieved that we had purchased this insurance.

More than Adequate

While we were quickly reimbursed for our initial claims...I was surprised that they separated the diagnoses and prorated the deductible on each. I am surprised and disappointed that they do not cover diagnostic exams and preventive health. It would seem that they suffer form the same malaise as does human health...they pay for illness not wellness. the verdict remains out for me until I see how they handle the second leh of our 11mo old pup with luxating patella knee surgery. Since it was diagnosed at the same time, my sense is that the deductible is paid! We'll see.

Trupanion is the BEST !!!!!!!

When my worst fears turned into reality,and my baby Nani had seizures,my Trupanion insurance gave me the ability to help my 10 month old pug in every way that we can. My rep. Alicia is so compationate, and truely cares for the welfare of my Nani. The claims process was very easy, and only took a couple weeks. It feels good to know that if we need any major medical procedures- we will financially be able to do so without any hesitation.

Trupanion thumbs down

We have had a tough time with them - fighting for claims etc. And now they are increasing our rate by 65%. They say they can't help it, but I have never heard of insurance going up that much in one year. And our dog is only one year old. The reason I am on this site is to try and find a better company.

Too Good to be TRUE!

I purchased my new Pomapoo Bentley from a breeder I located through NextDayPets.com. There was an advertisement and I link for a 30 day FREE trial of Trupanion pet insurance on site for when I got my new puppy. I have had a number of dogs and cats - a number of which have had MAJOR illnesses - and I had always wanted to look into pet insurance. This seemed like the perfect chance! I signed up easily over the phone, and - what do you know - within my first week of ownership, Bentley started vomitting for a full day. I rushed him to an emergency clinic at midnight, and then he was transferred to my regular vet in the morning. Luckily, it turns out that he must have just eaten something that upset his tummy, but it took a number of tests & intreveneous fluids to get us to that answer. My vets willingly filled out the claims forms & faxed them to Trupanion for me.Within the span of a week, I had gotten a notice of receipt of claim, claim processing, and claim completion!! What a pleasant suprise!! Needless to say, I have signed up to continue my coverage after the FREE trail ends!! What a wonderful value and priceless peace of mind for my new baby boy!

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
