Best product out there - hands down

Trupantion has been supporting the care of my dog - Kalu - for around 7 months now. He is a great little pit, and has been struggling with right sided heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. This has required A LOT of diagnostic processes and A LOT of ongoing medicine, and Trupaion has been a great company to work with throughout. They really don't penalize their clients for making the right medical decisions for their animals, and that is very impressive. Thank you Trupanion!

Amazing insurance company

Trupanion is truly a lifesaver. My 15 month old dog began limping badly a couple months after I took out a policy with Trupanion. He was diagnosed with severe hip dysplasia and needed operations on both of his hips. Luckily, I had paid for the hip dysplasia amendment. Thanks to Trupanion, he had his first operation three weeks ago. He will have his second surgery in a coupe of weeks. We could not have afforded to provide these operations for our dog without financial help. Trupanion has been paying 90% of all costs of this operation and we are forever grateful. Initially, they looked at all of his medical records and determined that his condition was not pre-existing. Since then, all claims we have put in have been approved in a matter of two days. Checks have come as promised and in time to pay off our credit card. The only things that I feel is lacking is that they don't pay for physical therapy. I can understand not paying for alternative medicine, but physical therapy is very needed after extreme orthopedic surgery. The price of physical therapy is out of our reach. Again, though, we are so grateful that Trupanion came to our rescue and saved our dog's life. The staff is wonderful, all angels. They are an honest company and do what they advertise without any hassle.

Great service!

We've been with Trupanion for about half a year now and the service has been excellent! We've already had to fill out three claims since getting Trupanion (puppies, got to love them!) and they always respond quickly and we've gotten our reimbursement checks within weeks of filing. I would recommend Trupanion to everyone!

Literally, a lifesaver!

We cannot praise Trupanion and its staff highly enough. Although we deliberately chose dogs whose breed is known to have few genetic problems, our daughter (who is an emergency veterinarian in a different city) encouraged us to purchase medical insurance for them. We are so glad we did, AND that we chose Trupanion! We have made claims for both dogs during the past 3+ years; every claim was processed within just a few days, with confirmation by e-mail, and a cheque received within two weeks at the very most. One of our dogs has had significant health problems over the past 10 months, beginning with a critical illness requiring emergency treatment and hospitalization. The knowledge that Trupanion would reimburse 90% of our veterinary expenses enabled us to make rapid decisions about diagnostics and treatment - I have no doubt this contributed to a positive outcome. Having insurance also enabled us to pursue further diagnostic testing, identify an underlying problem, and provide ongoing medication essential to restore and maintain his quality of life. We are thrilled to have our devoted companion healthy again, and our other dog is happy her buddy is back to his normal self. We didn't insure our dogs until they were age 8 and 5, but even with the exclusion of pre-existing conditions, the benefits of Trupanion have been amazing. I wouldn't consider bringing another pet into my home without immediately insuring it through Trupanion.

Great service

We've had Trupanion health insurance for our dog for 2-3 years. He had been very healthy, but developed cancer. He subsequently had 2 successful surgeries. Trupanion paid most of the cost of his treatment. They reviewed the case promptly, and paid the insured amount within a couple of weeks. Excellent coverage for the cost of the policy and super service. A nice feature of Trupanion is the ability to adjust the deductible and rate to suit your finances and the needs of your pet(s). Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
