My little rex 5 year old teacup poodle…

My little rex 5 year old teacup poodle recently had a battle for his life incubated twice months in the I.c.u surgery my poor baby had his throat cut open surgery to remove a huge mass complicating things they found a heart condition the stay was so long his veins started blowing up leaving huge holes in his leg but a few months later after doctors said he more than likely wouldn't make it he is thriving doing absolutely amazing trupanion paid all bills right away directly to the hospital eliminating massive stress during an incredibly hard time would highly recommend thankyou for giving us more precious time with our beloved furbaby you guys are incredible as are the vets that saved his life god bless you all.

Not “Tru!”

“We're sending good thoughts your way. Give Simba a little extra love from us.” You must be joking! Although you do refer to section 7 of the policy here. I find it interesting how you conveniently left out the part about the “3 month” limit here. You clearly pointed out the timeframe that the vet suggests however. So I did the right thing and immediately called to ask that from the vet. I guess unfortunately for me I believed that you would be upfront with all the “fine print”. Please don’t try to explain it away and remind me about the “section 7” again now. You’d be missing the point. I do believe you purposely left out the (three months) part to avoid having to approve the claim. I’ve read some of your reviews and they aren’t very positive. It is sad that you claim you care about Pets or are in the business of “helping” pets. “Trupanion”??? There is nothing “Tru” about you, sadly.

Premiums have gone up by over $40 in 2 years

Premiums have gone up by over $40 in only 2 years. Company does not cover majority of vet bill costs. In comparison with other pet insurance currently in use TruPanion covers less and costs 2.5 times more.

Fast coverage but note the details.

I can say that I have appreciated the ability to contact via the website. Our puppy had a potential cancer diagnosis and I was very grateful for the insurance coverage. My issue is some of the details. We have a $500 deductible, and Trupanion pays 90% after. But it's not really a deductible of $500, is more like $565, because they apply the 90% rule to the deductible. It's confusing to figure out when your puppy is sick. Especially with concurrent issues. As well, for those of us, who don't read details easily, you are not being paid for the Vet exam. If your dog has an ongoing issue or there are exploratory tests being done, you may require multiple Vet visits and they won't be covered. So most of the customer service has been great. Honestly, outside that experience and the deductible issue, I would have given Trupanian a 4.5. I think doctors exams should be covered, hence not the full 5 stars. **Trupanian did reach out, and we had a good conversation. I was happy with the response to my concerns. I am keeping some of my review up, because I do think that contracts can be a bit confusing, and it helps to really understand some of the details.

After 4 years of trupanion Im cancelling, theyre a waste of money.…

After 4 years of trupanion my dachschund had an accident and needed care in the form of physiotherapy and was denied coverage, less than a month later I recieved an email from trupanion saying that they were INCREASING the cost of my coverage, so now they want me to pay more and they aren't even covering her for what she needs. Absolutely garbage and I'm canceling my coverage with them, issues like this were the entire reason I wanted pet insurance and got it right from the start and this is so infuriating.

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
