Depending on the plan Trupanion covers up to 90% of eligible expenses, has unlimited payouts-always, and can pay your vet bill, within seconds, at time of checkout, so all you pay is your portion (anything not covered by Trupanion). They have transformed the way pet insurance handles claims by eliminating the reimbursement process.

6 pets covered under trupanion
I love Trupanion and we have 6 pets enrolled. I have referred 2 friends to this company
The only downside is that we find that they increase rates a lot
5 years ago I enrolled my full breed cats at around 25-30$. Now with a higher deductible, it is costing me between 40-45$ to enroll a new cat.
My son has two cats with Trupanion and their rates just increased 25$ each.
Hopefully they don’t continue to increase this much because it will get difficult for some clients to continue paying high rates monthly
All that being said, the customer service is very good. They also send a handwritten note by mail when you lose a pet and it is easy to reach a representative on the phone. The website is, for the most part, user friendly
Lastly, it would be really nice if they offered some kind of deal when you have multiple pets insured in one household. They do not offer this

Trupanion is exactly just that "True" Tru to its word, Tru to its value and Tru with its insurance!!!
Some of our relatives and friends already know about the situation we are having with our precious Sheltie. We did not know until she was about 5 to 6 moths old that she was in kidney failure! This is so devastating and sad to hear and also see her deteriorate before your eyes knowing there is nothing you can do to help....BUT through it all we are so thankful for Trupanion. They stuck with us right from the start to right this day.(September 22/2024) They do not hesitate to pay their balance. They even covered a percentage of her diet food we had to have for her (special vet approved food), her hospital bills (to their amount of coverage) and all other insurance matters. We have nothing bad in any way to say about Trupanion. They are remarkable in every way!! They have even sent out messages / emails as to how our sheltie is doing. We are very pleased in every way to have Trupanion behind us. Just a added note . . . "our vet bills did exceed 14,000.oo and we have received roughly 9500.oo in coverage from Trupanion. One cannot complain over that! Our sheltie is 11 months as of October 6, 2024. She is expected to live between 18 to 2 years max. We thank god everyday for Trupanion Xo

My coverage has more than doubled in a…
My coverage has more than doubled in a little over 2 years along with the fact that anytime I have submitted anything it hasn’t been covered anyways. Im not sure at this point it’s worth the outrageous amount I am spending per year. May have been better off to just put that money away and use it when needed.

Trupanion is the best. Fast response and received cheque very fast. Having Trupanion is such a big help! Highly recommended!
Monthly Cost
Monthly cost varies due to multiple factors including: species, breed, age at enrollment, gender, and postal code.
Coverage
One simple plan covers new injuries and illnesses, hereditary, congenital, and chronic conditions—once the deductible is met, Trupanion pays 90% of the remaining invoice.

Payout Limits
Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
Examination fees
Wellness and preventive care
Elective, or cosmetic procedures
Sales tax, where applicable
