Trupanion is # 1
I've been with Trupanion for about six months now. I have a beautiful English Creame Golden Retriever named Emma who is a 1 1/2 yrs. old. About six months ago I took Emma to my vet, Dr. B, for a wellness visit. I had been with this other insurance company at the time when Dr. B asked me how I liked them. To be honest, I had never had to use them, so I asked him if he had heard of them. Although Dr. B didn't say anything bad about them, he didn't say anything nice about them either, which led me to asking him who would he recommend. Within the next ten minutes or so he went over all the pros and cons about the top 5 insurance companies and to my surprise mine was not one of them. He told me all about Trupanion and even had a video presentation explaining all the reasons why I should go with them. Now to be honest, I was a little skeptical thinking he must be affiliated with them in some way, when to my surprise he said, Trupanion will give you the first month for free and if I didn't like them I could cancel, no questions asked. Exactly one week later Emma has a Urinary tract infection. I took Emma to Dr. B who told me she was covered for 90% of the total bill, almost $800. He filled out all the paperwork, submitted it to Trupanion and in 10 minutes they approved the claim. I was floored. I hadn't even paid them do to the free month, so I was already ahead. Now I decided to compare the other company I had signed up with so I called and asked them a hypothetical. I said if my dog had a urinary tract infection would she be covered and If so for how much. The woman said when I submitted the claim they have to determine how much they believe the claim to be worth. In other words, they don't go by what the vet submits they go by what they believed it should cost. Wow! When Dr. B submitted the claim it was approved in less than 10 minutes and nothing but the 10% and my deductible were due. Nothing else out of pocket as Trupanion sent Dr. B 90% of what he submitted. This past week I took Emma in because she was limping. Dr. B took ex-rays and it showed possible elbow dysplasia, after sending them out for another opinion. I paid $350.00 and Dr. submitted it to Trupanion. Today when I got home there was a check for $160.00 from them because Trupanion accepted the claim. I can't believe how great they are. I love my dog and with Dr. B and of course Trupanion I no that Emma is in great hands. Dr. B is the best vet in Las Vegas, and Trupanion is the best insurance
