Somewhat expensive, but worth it.

Have had insurance for my pet with this company since my pup came home 8 years ago. Rates have been going up anually at a somewhat steep rate, which was worrisome at one point. Needed spine surgery for the dog a couple of months back, and experienced the quality of the service from Trupanion. No hassle, no questions and quick reimbursement for the fees associated with the procedure. Very efficient and pleased we were able to get the surgery done without having to doubt reimbursement.

I've had Trupanion Insurance for two of my pets and never submitted a claim. My seven year old Golden needs surgery to remove his anal sacks...a problem he has had since he was a puppy. The claim was denied as a pre-existing condition. My dog has never released his glands and the condition now warrants attention. I've chosen to leave this company as their evaluation basically doesn't make sense...How can an issue from birth be "pre existing"? This seems like a loophole and a bit too convenient for the Company. And, the woman with whom I last spoke was pushy and rude. I'm going to Pet's Best Insurance Company.

Good customer service. Still an insurance company

Not happy with Trupanion. Been with then for over 5 years and have never needed them... Until now, my basset hound developed a skin allergy and he needs to be put on medication. We were initially denied the claim due to when he was 8 weeks old he had an ear infection. We appealed the claim with the vet submitting the appeal stating to them that they ear infection from 5 years ago has no correlation between the two. Trupanion came back with a denial once again stating that the claim is still denied due to an ear infection from 5 years ago. So beware that in the end they are just an insuarnce company and the last thing that they want is to spend money out of their own pocket. Even if you've been a loyal customer for years. I am happy that the previous reviews that their pets were helped. Also when phoning the company their people are kind and nice to deal with. But unfortunately you cannot speak to the people that review your appeal.

trupanion worst pet insurance place around

got trupanion for our English mastiff and about 2 months after having it our dog had to have tplo surgery took him to one vet said they couldn't tell without an xray so we took him to another and said that he needed the surgery so we do it pay for it up front and now we have been waiting for 6 months for our claim and they denied us for the 2nd time. finally canceled they don't care about the you or yours pets.

Trupanion is awesome

One of my dogs recently tore her ACL. Without insurance I would have struggled to pay the bill. Trupanion does direct billing, so I didn't have to wait to be reimbursed. Within half an hour of the quote being submitted fit approval before the surgery I got a call telling be exactly what was covered and explaining all the details. Every contact I've had with the staff has been great. That are super knowledgable and friendly. They really eased the stress off a bad situation .

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
