We have not had to use the services of Trupanion but regardless, they are often in contact ensuring that we are aware of any updates and keeping us informed. Seems like a good deal to me!

Just had a 32% annual increase after an…

Just had a 32% annual increase after an 18% increase last year (5-10%annuals previously for 7years) that’s a 50% wildly outrageous increase over two years with zero explanation except “we calculate premiums based on veterinarian claims in your area” I’m sorry but this is unacceptable to saddle long term clients with wild hikes like this!!!!! Don’t get fooled by their fluffy and caring marketing! They only care about the monthly increase of funds coming into their bottom line! Beyond frustrated with this money grab increase! At least the girl I spoke with on the phone finish our unpleasant call with “well you have a great day and give Sable my love”????? I’m sorry your standard telephone conversations might need to be adjusted a bit for these situations! The sarcasm was less than appreciated from a client paying over $2000 a year now for your insurance (which by the way I have never made a claim against……) I’m researching quotes now from competitors and I will be switching ASAP!

My daughter has two dogs

My daughter has two dogs, one of her dogs last July ate some weeds that stuck in her throat. The vet had to do emergency surgery, the cost of the visit was around $2000, Truepanion covered 90% of the bill. It would have been very difficult coming up with $2000.00 out of pocket. Having truepanion is well worth the money, they are very helpful and the claims are processed fast. When my daughter was looking at pet insurance, she noticed that truepanion will direct bill, others won’t. When we were shopping around for pet insurance, we found trupanion the best with the most reasonable co-pays. Thank you to Truepanion

My son's Scottish terrier swallowed a…

My son's Scottish terrier swallowed a grape while we were dog sitting. This dog is covered by Trupanion with a $200 deductible. We understand that regular yearly examinations are not covered. As this was an emergency situation, given the very high toxicity of grapes and possible fatal outcomes, imagine our surprise whenTrupanion would not cover the cost of the EMERGENCY examination. They refused and all that we recovered from the vet bill of $521 was $58. Given the monthly premiums my son has already paid he is now in the hole. Insurance is meant for emergency situations which this was. When my son returns home, he will cancel his enrolment with them.

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
