As usual, I had a wonderful experience with Trupanion. This company and its associates really care about our pets. Just called to make sure that my payment went through. Couldn't ask for more.
Current Trupanion customer: Do not buy this insurance
I am a current Trupanion customer. I have older dogs and am stuck with the company. I Do Not recommend this insurance. If your dogs actually get sick, expect a major annual premium hike (which defeats the point of buying the insurance, I know). This happened to us. Pet 1 - no claims … annual increase exceeding rate of inflation. Pet 2 (2 years older than Pet 1) - claims (but nothing paid since below deductible) …massive monthly increase … multiples of the rate of inflation and 2x Pet 1. Besides, their plan does not cover the vet visit itself (after the deductible, of course). So, for example, if you bring the dog to the vet if they hurt themselves, the vet appointment won’t be covered. If there are any tests (etc.) only those items are covered. Other policies cover vet visits. I’d recommend you focus your research on them personally. Trupanion is great at writing friendly-sounding emails; but if you’re looking for a stable reliable annual premium for your pets, look elsewhere
CUSTOMERS OF TRUPANION AND CUSTOMERS THINKING OF GETTING PET INSURANCE WITH THIS COMPANY, DO NOT GET THIS COMPANY TO HELP YOU OUT, I ENCOUNTERED AN EXPERIENCE ON AUGUST 3/2023, WHERE THEY DECLINED MY CLAIM, BECAUSE I TOLD THE TRUTH ABOUT MY FUR BABIES PROBLEM WITH MY SO CALLED VETERINARY CLINIC, TRUPANION DECLINED MY CLAIM, CLAIMING THAT IT WAS A PRE EXISTING CONDITION, WHICH IS COMPLETE B.S. WE AS ADOPTED FAMILIES SAVE PETS LIVES, AND TRUPANION KNOWS THIS. MICHELLE DECLINED MY CLAIM, SHE SAID SHE WAS DOING HER BEST. I'M VERY OLD SCHOOL, I AM A BABY BOOMER. THERE IS SOMETHING THAT ALWAYS STICKS IN MY HEAD FROM THE MOVIE THE ROCK WITH NICHOLAS CAGE AND SEAN CONNERY, THERE IS A SCENE WHERE STANLEY GOODSPEED ( NICHOLAS CAGE) SAYS I'M DOING MY BEST, JOHN MASON (SEAN CONNERY) REACTS WITH AN AMAZING COMEBACK LINE, YOUR BEST!!!!! LOSERS ALWAYS WHINE ABOUT THEIR BEST, HERO'S COMPLETE THE TASK. MY JOB REQUIRES 100 PERCENT ACCURACY OR PEOPLE DIE. YOU THINK I HAVE A GOD COMPLEX, YES I DO. Heartbroken and Disgusted: Trupanion's Broken Promise!

I am utterly devastated by my recent experience with Trupanion. Despite their promise to cover the cost of euthanization, they shockingly refused to honor their commitment, leaving me burdened with the entire bill during an already difficult time. Trupanion's lack of compassion and integrity has shattered my trust in them completely. I urge pet owners to steer clear of Trupanion and opt for a reliable insurance provider like Fetch instead. When I shared my ordeal with another insurance company, they were appalled by Trupanion's behavior, and I couldn't agree more. Avoid Trupanion at all costs! I have screen shots where Trupanion told me they would cover my poor dogs euthanasia. I will show you contact me.
Our puppy, at a wee 7 months old, had a small intestine obstruction.
Trupanion was truly a lifesaver! Not only did our puppy receive incredible care but we were so thankful for being able to manage the final bill due to Trupanion’s assistance.
We would never be able to afford the necessary care our dog needed unless we were covered through this amazing company.

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.
Deductible
You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget.
Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.
Age Limits
All pets under 14 years old can enroll.
Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.
Waiting Period
Accidents: 5 days
Illnesses: 30 days
Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.
Exclusions
Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries. That means we don’t cover “predictable” care costs that you can plan ahead for, like:
