The least helpful insurance company ever

This company will try to find any means possible to not cover your pet. They will deny coverage based on certain “terns” but when you provide supporting documentation they will say… “oh I’m so sorry we cannot possibly review this again.” It is incredibly frustrating. They are happy to take your premiums but they have a team that tries very hard to deny your claims. Beware.

If there were zero stars to describe my…

If there were zero stars to describe my opinion of Trupanion that’s what I’d choose. In follow up to my last review, I was told by Trupanion customer service that they had no interest in any of my feedback. What was worse, while I was out of the country and my 3 huskies were under the care of a pet sitter, one of Trupanion’s managers cancelled my dogs’ insurance coverage without my request or permission! As I had no cell or internet service where I was staying I had no knowledge of this until we went to a nearby town. I spent time on my short 3 day vacation sending urgent emails and making an urgent long distance phone call to get the insurance reinstated immediately! What company cancels your insurance without your permission and while you are on vacation, away from your pets?!!! Disgraceful!! That was the most egregious of a string of sloppy and careless errors by Trupanion. Had I known this was how they operate I never would have bothered to sign my dogs up for this horrible company. I pay $273/month for coverage for 3 large dogs. Out of $900 of expenses for a claim on my dog, I have a $500 deductible, that leaves $400 of expenses, of which Trupanion covered $70. Great coverage eh? A waste of money. And a huge waste of my 2 hours on the phone with customer service and a manager. Find another pet insurance company. This one is not worth it.

I feel so angry

I feel so angry. I am sick of the raise in fees every year. For what?nothing. I have paid thousands over the years. And only have ever used this policy once. 800 deductible and 77 plus a month. The keep giving it to clients up the ass I am so pissed. 15 dollars raise. Talk about be g F¥£€^ Over. I was able to call the company and speak to twice to, to two different advisers. These people are good people and kind. They are just doing their job. My anger has nothing to do with them. It is a 25 % jump in premiums. This is well over the rate of inflation. I am not opposed to a price increase I am opposed to be g financially raped. The people you speak to can do nothing. The cowardly actions of the owners not to take calls or complaints themselves tells me exactly what who the ownership is. I will be the most vocal for not using this company because if there unreasonable money grab.

Awful company

Awful company. Don't bring a rescue. They won't cover them even if you pay into it. I'm very unhappy with them. Go else where.

Disappointed with Trupanion

very disappointed that Trupanion raised their premium by 25%. That is ridiculous, I have to reconsider paying for insurance for my pet now, it's starting to be unaffordable. I pay more for the dog than I do for me and my wife. Im also disappointed that I had to go back 3 times with appeals to have her treatments covered, Trupanion already knows what her medical issues are and there should be no questions on what should be covered. Trupanion has been going down hill lately.....very disappointing....

Coverage

Payout Limits

Unlimited lifetime payouts on eligible conditions with no payout limits-ever.

Deductible

You can choose your deductible from $0 – $1000, in $5 increments, to fit your budget. Trupanion offers a lifetime, per condition deductible meaning that once the deductible is met for an eligible condition, you never have to meet it again. That condition is covered for life. This is great for chronic conditions that can span the entirety of a pet’s life such as allergies or cancer.

Age Limits

All pets under 14 years old can enroll. Once enrolled, pets stay insured regardless of age.

Waiting Period

Accidents: 5 days Illnesses: 30 days Other providers may have additional waiting periods for congenital conditions like hip dysplasia, Trupanion does not.

Exclusions

Trupanion was developed to protect you and your pet from unexpected illnesses and injuries.
