Pets Plus Us | Pet Insurance Review

I have started my 3rd policy with Pets Plus Us and I do love their service. I haven't had any problems with claims in the past and have received amazing service. My only concern right now is that they say underwriting is completed in 15-20 business days. This hasn't been the case for my last 2 policies. We're on business day 21 and it's looking like another week. I have an issue with this as I need to know that they're going to cover a condition that started right after the 14 day wait before I make any concrete treatment decisions. Technically it should be covered but I'm worried to commit to something before I have my policy in writing. I wish they would resolve these delays on the legal side as it is very stressful for the policy holder.

Last year our 1 year old cocker spaniel, Maggie, got sick and as a result it was discovered that she had a very enlarged kidney. After seeing various professionals it was determined that she needed to have her kidney removed. Our total bill came to about $ 7400.00. We are so glad we had Pets Plus Us insurance as that would have been a lot of money to be out.Maggie is our first dog that we have had pet insurance on (and we have taken it out on our younger dog) and we are so glad we have it. Our claim was also handled in a very timely manner. We would recommend insurance to everyone.

Overall, my only complaint would be the underwriting time could be quicker, but once everything got rolling they were very quick to get the cheque to me. Jamie McLellan was an amazing help with everything!

I work in the vet industry and have always recommend Pet Insurance, I decided to sign up my own animals and with my current affairs with my dog thank goodness I did, an MRI, Spinal Tap, Chemo treatments and multiple drugs later Pets Plus Us stands by me and helps me with their awesome coverage and even sent a personal email asking how my little man is doing, super happy with them!!

I submitted a claim on my accident policy in December 2015 when my dog was limping after being out playing. I was told after a couple of months that more information was needed so I obtained that from the vet and submitted it. No follow-up has occurred beyond April 2016 when I called once again. The company did not reach out to me. The claim was not filled and no explanation has been given. The possible return would have been about $300 which I didn't think was very big. I also have had 3 pets insured with this company for 3 years with no other claims so I will be switching providers. I could not be more disappointed in this company. The only nice thing I can say is that they have lovely graphic design on their plan packages.
