When we adopted Opie, our precious 12 week of Neopolitan Mastiff, our vet had us enrol in the one month free trial with Pets Plus Us! That decision was something that would become a godsend! We didn’t realize what a life saver it would be! Not only for beautiful Mastiff but also to protect our savings and future savings against unseen concerns.
Our family had previously had a very healthy Bull Mastiff who had lived a very long, healthy life. Adopting a dog with health concerns did not cross our mind when I feel in love with our new family member!
Shortly after his initial check up Opie started showing issues with his eyes, skin, allergies and the worst to come was he was examined and found to have bilateral hip dysplasia. We purchased the 80% coverage through the Accident & Illness insurance, and hoped we wouldn't need to use it anymore anytime soon. Well turns out we submit a claim monthly for his pain medicine, eye drops and other miscellaneous ointments and potions. AKA thousands of dollars later!
Having pet health insurance certainly helped take some of the stress out of having our dog undergo 3 cherry eye surgeries, eye ulcer surgery and pain medication to manage him until he hits maturity. He has a hip surgery in his future, in the meantime, Pets Plus Us gives us the coverage to medically manage his pain.
I would highly recommend Pets Plus Us to anyone looking for pet health coverage!! Thank you for being there for us!

Invaluable service & easy claims process.
We have a French Bulldog named Pierre, and have had him insured since the day we took him home from the breeders at 10 weeks old.
My husband and I knew that frenchies traditionally have a lot of health issues, ranging from various skin allergies, to hip issues, to breathing issues etc. We looked into insuring Pierre before we picked him up, expecting that his insurance premiums would be incredibly high due to the breed, we were wrong. When we phoned Pets Plus Us for a quote, they were friendly, knowledgeable, and regardless of Pierre's age and breed, his quote was the most reasonable monthly payment for Accident and Illness we received.
The service rep explained the whole process over the phone, and it was so simple. My pet's policy is easier to read and understand than my home or auto insurance!
It was simple, under Accident and Illness, if Pierre was ever hurt or sick, and it was not a pre-existing condition or a regular checkup appointment (ie. vaccinations, or flea prevention) it was covered!
In the past year, Pierre, like a kid, got sick with just about everything you can think of! He got kennel cough, he got a scratch in his eye and needed to see a doggy optometrist, he got canine papilloma, he's had ear infections, and skin irritations. The vet visits, optometrist visits, and the medicine tallied to over a grand easily within the first 8 months. It was ALL covered!! I received a cheque in the mail usually within the week of submission.
The claims process was so easy. One sheet of paper, easy to understand and even easier to submit. It was actually so easy that the Vet submitted most of the forms for us. All I had to do was sign and date the form.
Without Pets Plus Us, we would've hesitated to bring Pierre into see the vet. They've provided us with the kind of service, and peace of mind to be able to keep our pet safe and happy. We owe his health to happiness to Pets Plus Us.

Great Service, Honest, Fast, Reliable
We adopted an Olde English Bulldogge from a reputable breeder and decided to get pet insurance for piece of mind, hoping we wouldn't have to use it. After research we decided to go with Pets Plus Us and we chose the $200 deductible and 90% coverage plan. By 11 weeks old,our puppy developed chronic urinary tract infections that required multiple tests to find the cause. She also developed a cold and eye infection! It seemed like one thing after another that lead to expensive vet visits. It was scary and stressful but Pets Plus Us was the least stressful part! The claims and payment went through incredibly quickly and exactly as described. The customer service is helpful and great. We are very very happy that we chose to go with this company.

I'd rate them 11/10 if I could
We adopted Mia from the Burlington Humane Society. When we took her on, we knew she’d had G.I. health issues stemming from a serious roundworm infestation. Knowing we were taking on a cat who'd started out life at a disadvantage, we thought we'd be wise and invest in pet insurance. Both our fantastic vet and the shelter recommended Pets Plus Us, so we went with them. And honestly, this decision was a life saver, or at least a life extender, for our cat.
For the first year, Mia had continuing G.I. problems stemming not only from roundworm, but other parasites picked up while she was on her own before being rescued. We were nearly at the one year mark when we finally solved this issue. Throughout this, Pets Plus Us was with us every step of the way, covering 80% of our bills as per our agreement.
It was just a week later that Mia was diagnosed with terminal cancer; our oncologist gave her only 4 weeks to live without a nearly $5000 chemotherapy treatment that wouldn't cure her but only slightly extend her life. Only the fact that we were with Pets Plus Us gave us the opportunity to fight for our cat. My husband has been out of work for over a year and a half and as the only breadwinner in a family of 4, this is the kind of extra expense that I couldn't manage on my own. But with Pets Plus Us taking on 80% of that bill, we had the freedom to agree to treatment and started right away.
We're now over 6 weeks into treatment and things have gone amazingly well—the huge tumour in her neck disappeared in literally 48 hours. But we're very aware that we wouldn't have our girl with us anymore if it wasn't for Pets Plus Us. Hopefully we'll get through the 6 months of chemo. Past that, we may have only bought her 3 months or maybe up to 2 years. It’s a fatal diagnosis, but it allows us more time with her for now.
Pets Plus Us has been nothing short of amazing. They make their electronic reimbursements to us in literally a matter of hours after submission. But they really show who they are by the little messages they send. You wouldn't think an insurance company would be happy handing over $2000 for chemo, but at the bottom of the receipt, they included a personal message: ' We are wishing Mia all the very best and are here for support if you need us.' On top of that, they actually called one evening to check in and see how she was doing, an unheard of customer service in this day and age.
No doubt about it, this is a special kind of company.

Relief in a time of sadness
When my partner and I adopted a little kitten that we would later name Charles, he was a rescue, but was given a clean bill of health with no apparent pre-existing medical conditions. Three weeks ago, he broke his arms and we opted to have him undergo surgery, the best but, admittedly, the most expensive option. It was only an option because we had insured Charles with Pets Plus Us.
Unfortunately, two weeks into his recovery, he broke a third limb. This incident we did witness, and we were able to see that this break was due to a fall from a very low height. For that reason, our vet actually advised that he was quite possibly suffering from a rare bone disorder. A full diagnosis would have been near impossible (they have to go down to the DNA level for that), but we regardless decided that we should probably let Charlie go, to avoid the risk of having him go through any more suffering.
It’s ultimately a really sad story, but Pets Plus Us did make this whole thing a lot more bearable, and at the very least, it gave us two more weeks with our cat. It was an awfully big payout for a policy we only held for maybe three months. I'm obviously now a huge advocate for pet insurance. We'll be signing up with Pets Plus Us again when we get our next cat.
