Great experience, very straightforward

I had a great experience with Pets Best, my dog had to have emergency surgery after eating a toy that got stuck inside, and Pets Best was very straightforward to use. I got my refund back (minus the deductible and coinsurance) in just two weeks!

SO glad I got it

SO glad I got it! The insurance has been so helpful and, once you meet the deductible, they have paid -- without issue -- medications for my puppy, urgentcare visits, etc. Like anything, when your pup is having seizures and you are making ER visits and are already nervous and stressed about it all and want the dog to be ok, it's comforting to know that the bills aren't mounting and you can afford the care that they need.

Everything is a pre existing condition.

Everything is a pre existing condition. If your dog had an ear infection 5 years ago, preexisting condition. If a stray attacks your dog on a walk years prior, and then a neighbors dog gets into your yard and bites him, well that's aggression and a preexisting condition. Absolute lunacy. He's 8 years old and we live an active lifestyle, MOST things have already happened at least once, which is why I wanted insurance to begin with!

Transparent, sensible review

Here's my feedback/review after 360 days using this pet insurance. If you're searching for pet insurance right now, like I was doing a year ago, Pets Best offered pretty comprehensive coverage for a dog older than 5 y/o. Unlimited annuals, 500 deductible (reasonable), 80% co-insurance - all for $60 a month(2021). I thought, ok, let's go with that. Half way through the year my dog had an illness I wanted to have checked. After roughly a month since I submitted a claim they, took that out of the deductible so I paid out of pocket - around $300. A few months later another thing came up with my dog, minor accident playing at the park resulting in a paw injury. Went to the vet, had her patched up and then submitted the claim. Again, took forever and finally got a response that I had successfully reached the deductible. No reimbursement. By then I was out of a year's worth of insurance plus the out of pocket expense to go to the vet. No return yet. I figured since my renewal was coming soon, I would continue with them hoping that claims would be faster now that there was a history. All of a sudden, a letter comes in the mail. Premium goes up by $20 starting the new policy year. Now they want to charge $80 for the same amount of coverage. The reason: "premiums in my area are up because of rising vet costs". I was honestly giving them the most patience and trying my best to not have to go to another insurer. I tried to get a good answer as to why they would increase my premium by that much if none of the claims I submitted resulted in a pay out. I asked to reduce the premium but the best they could do was to offer to reduce coverage or increase the deductible. Closing thoughts: After a lot of research, I'm moving on to another policy. Pet insurance in general is a big scam and these companies are charging higher fees each year while also avoiding payouts with loopholes. Unfortunately this company missed the mark by jacking up the prices by a significant amount to loyal customers and to me, that means they are ok without my business. I've chosen a new policy and will be cancelling my PetsBest policy before it renews at the end of the month.
