If you can, but day 1 you receive your pet
Unfortunately, I did not get pet insurance on day 1, I found my mutt puppy (apx 3 months old), but I didn't think we would keep her. Before we decided to keep her, I found worms in her poop. Took her to the vet and she still qualified for the puppy package. Which I would have saved some money, if I had put her in pet insurance. At about 5 months old, we decided to keep her, after no luck looking for her owners. I got her insured and had saved me money on microchipping her and Nexgard Plus.
I would recommend you get insurance day 1.

They covered all costs(minusdeductabole) on a Benign mass removal. Very easy process.

They reviewed my claim quickly.
They reviewed my claim quickly. I had a problem with submitting a photo of my invoice but once I sent in a clear image of it, it went well. I do wish they allowed more refund money for teeth cleaning but that is ok.

Great company!
Easy interface. Easy to upload documents. Very helpful and easy to chat with online. I appreciate their responsiveness and communication. I don’t know what I would’ve done without this insurance! Very thankful and happy with PetsBest! 10/10!

$6 and up, depending on your chosen plan.

Accident and Illness plans with optional reimbursement levels of 70%, 80%, or 90% after the deductible.
Flat Rate Accident coverage for $9/month for dogs and $6/month for cats. (Available in most states).
Two optional Wellness plans to cover routine care.
24/7 Pet Helpline, powered by whiskerDocs is included on all policies.
The pay-out amount is based on your actual vet bill.
Reimbursements are sent directly to CareCredit credit card when chosen as your default reimbursement method.
Choose to have your eligible claim payment reimbursed directly back to your CareCredit card.
Payout Limits
$5000 -Unlimited annual limit, depending on your chosen plan.
Unlimited lifetime limits.
Deductible
$50 – $1,000 annually.
Age Limits
Pet must be at least 7 weeks old to enroll.
Pets Best does not restrict coverage or availability for older pets.
Waiting Period
A waiting period refers to the amount of time after enrolling before your pet is eligible for coverage. Waiting periods vary by the type of coverage and start on the effective date of your policy. Once met, waiting periods are waived for continuous, uninterrupted policy renewals. Pets Best offers some of the shortest waiting periods in the industry following the policy effective date. Get a quote for specific information on waiting periods in your state.

Pre-existing conditions are not covered.
Elective and preventive procedures are not covered.
