So far pretty good, just one complaint.

The good: The vet helpline has been fantastic I love that we get that through this insurance. I used it twice about two possible things that my puppy ate and they definitely saved me a trip to the vet! My insurance also covered an appointment where my dog needed anesthesia and X-rays which was a big help!!!! The bummer: Our puppy Fritz, is a rescue puppy from an abandoned property in TX and at his first vet appointment I found out he had ear infections and hematomas, I have also struggled with some bad behavior. So I got the pet insurance to protect myself with unknown vet costs. I have spent a lot of money on dog trainers and puppy classes to housebreak him and stop other bad puppy behaviors. In an unlucky event he injured himself chasing a toy fracturing his fibula along with a cruciate tear. I have been having my puppy rest for months to see if he can heal on his own. It hasn't and we are now facing surgery. The biggest bummer I have with the insurance policy is they don't cover a cruciate tear in the first 12 months of holding the policy. So along with all of my other costs i am now facing a $4500 cost even though I have pet insurance. Surgery is next week, crossing my fingers they will help me to pay for this unexpected expense. I have worked hard with him and his behavior and I have high hopes he will be calmer puppy from now on and that after surgery he will be able to run around again like a normal dog. Rescuing a dog is not an easy job as I have learned it has been a financial burden and some havoc on our home life. However I see light at the end of the tunnel now, if only Nationwide will cover some of the surgery costs!!

For the most part satisfactory

It’s been nice having pet insurance when needed. Like most insurance you wonder if it will ever be worth the cost, but when you need it for an injury or Illness it’s comforting to know that some of the expenses will be covered.
