A life saver, literally!

We would not be able to accommodate the sudden and unexpected costs that come with multiple pets, without Nationwide's pet insurance. Most of our initial vet/emergency charges go onto a Carecredit account, and then when Nationwide reimburses us, we turn around and pay down the carecredit. It's not perfect, but it allows us to get out pets the care they need when they need it.

Reimbursement

When we pay out the money to the veterinarian clinic , it takes way too long to get reimbursed . I have nothing good to say about the company you go through , that are Check goes directly to our account . I have since then switch back to receive a check in the mail .

Disappointed

Buster had surgery to remove an adenoma tumor from his right adrenal gland. The cost of surgery to save his life was close to $5000. I sent all the costs and received less than $1000 from the total bill. There was sentence that said I may be entitled to additional money but did not explain what information was needed. I recently sent more info from both the Surgeon and the internal medicine specialist.

Prompt and efficient

I've found Nationwide to be very prompt and efficient at claims processing. I had some difficulty with submitting claims via email as I continued to receive notice that they couldn't be read but since I've begun using Vitus Vet to submit everything has been even easier. I hope my relationship with Nationwide continues to be so effortless as my girl moves into her senior years.

Coverage

Nationwide offers a variety of plans offering varying levels of coverage. The company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness, offers 90% reimbursement for accident, injury, illness and wellness care, inclusive of exam fees. All Nationwide members have complimentary 24/7 access to vethelpline.

Payout Limits

Depending on the plan selected, there may be annual benefit limits or per incident benefit allowances. There is no annual limit for the company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness.

Deductible

Annual deductibles range from $0 to $1,000. Most popular annual deductible for Whole Pet with Wellness is $250.

Age Limits

No age restriction to enroll in company’s most popular plan, Whole Pet with Wellness. Other plans may have age restrictions.

Waiting Period

14-day waiting period after application approved and payment of premium is received.

Exclusions

Pre-existing conditions are not covered on any plans (if a condition is curable, it may be eligible for review if pet remains treatment-free for at least six months). Whole Pet with Wellness covers nearly all veterinary expenses. Notable exclusions include boarding and grooming.
